I love the Phainopepla bird species. Even though they eat mistletoe berries and spread the seeds-which infect and infest Paloverde trees-they have a plaintive, yet interesting call and song. Anyway, while looking to snap some photos of a few nearby Hermit Warblers, I managed to snap a photo of one very brave Phainopepla. I also got to see his mate. And I now believe they were/are guarding a nest that's nearby.
