Summary: Jonghyun was always rebellious, whereas Onew would never dare to rat out his abusive brother, Kangin. But when their lives get mixed together everything begins to boil like a big pot of soup. And, you can't make soup without something getting a little stirred.
Onew yawned as he sat up in his little bed, turning off his alarm clock a minute before it went off. He did this every day. He got up, neatly made his bed and brushed his teeth. He said hi to his brothers Hongki and Kangin. The former would usual reply in kind, maybe give him a hug if he wasn't to tired. The latter usually ignored him unless he wanted something.
Onew trotted downstairs to the kitchen where his mother was eating breakfast with his brothers. He sat beside Hongki as usual and slung his school bag down next to him.
"Good morning dear." Onew smiled at his mother happily as he ate.
"Morning umma."
"Did you boys get your school work done?" Hongki and Onew nodded, not looking up from their food. It was the same question everyday. Onew, being the diligent student that he was always told the truth about this. Hongki... well...
And then the two of them would be off, walking their way to high school in stiff uniforms and loaded with books.
"How are things going for you?" Onew smiled as Hongki wrapped an arm around his shoulders affectionately. As they sat in their first class of the day.
"They're fine. You don't need to worry so much. I'm older than you aren’t I? I should be asking this of you."
"You sure don't act like it." Onew stuck out his tongue at his brother as the other ruffled his hair.
In class Onew sat beside Wonbin and Hongki, the two chattering away as he looked out the window. Oh how he wished he was anywhere but here. He sighed and was startled when his brother's hand grabbed his own.
"Hey what's with you?" Onew shook his head
"Nothing. Don't scare me like that." He pulled his hand out of Hongki's warm grip and turned away to face the teacher as she entered. He didn't notice the frown on his brother's hurt face.
After school Onew lazed around the gate for awhile, waiting for Hongki and Wonbin to pick up their friends and such. They always took forever. Onew didn't know why he waited on them.
"Aish can you believe she didn't fucking wait for us here." Onew looked up to see two men leaning against the outside of the gate. One looked to be in his twenties, his face was mostly covered by sun glasses and the smoke he was breathing out. The other stood quietly next to his companion, looking very bored as he scribbled furiously into a book. He couldn't have been older than Onew. Plus he wore a uniform.
Onew's eyes widened and he hid behind the wall quickly when he recognized the uniform. That school was of course the typical rich kid school. They were rude and snobby; they disregarded all manners and did what they wanted. He frowned. It wouldn't be good to get mixed up in whatever they were doing here.
"If Tiffany doesn't show up soon we're going in there Minho." Onew cursed as Hongki, Wonbin and Minwhan chose that moment to come out. He held his breath as they walked past the delinquent pair.
"Hey you!" Onew wanted to kill Hongki as he called out to the two.
"You know smoking on school grounds isn’t allowed right?" The pair approached their group, the smoking man standing directly in front of Hongki. Onew pulled on his brother's arm but he didn't back down.
"Who's going to stop me?" Onew frowned and watched his brothers teeth grit. If he didn't do something there was going to be a fight. Just as he was about to suggest they drop it the quieter of the pair spoke.
"No he's right." five pairs of eyes turned to the younger boy as he closed the book he was writing in and snatched his friend's cigarette, crushing it on the floor.
"We aren’t here to cause trouble Heechul. Jonghyun told us to pick up Tiffany. Anything else is an unnecessary distraction." The older male scoffed but listened to his friend and turned from the four boys.
"Fine. Minho's right you punks aren’t worth it." Onew pulled Hongki away before the other had the chance to say anything back, complaining that they needed to head to the restaurant for work.
The three brothers had been working for their mom's restaurant for a long time. At first it wasn't much, just running little errands but now the three had better jobs and better pay as well.
Onew pulled on his uniform with a sigh as he though of the punks his brother had encountered. What were they doing hanging around his school?
"Onew!"
"Hm?" Onew looked up at his oldest brother as he called to him gruffly.
"What is it hyung?"
"Stop fucking around and get to work." Onew pouted slightly but quickly smiled when he noticed Hongki frowning at them from.
"Hyung you could stop being an asshole and get to your work. He was just fixing his uniform. If he doesn't have it perfect you'll harass him like every other day anyway." Hongki retorted before Onew could stop him. He hated when these two fought. He was convinced there was nothing worse in the world.
"Well!" Onew laughed nervously, not allowing his two adoptive brothers to fight anymore.
"I'll take over your table Hongki-yah! Why don't you tell umma we're here?" Hongki grumbled but complied, but not before flashing a scowl to Kangin.
Onew sighed but squeaked a little when he noticed his hyung's glare now fixated on him.
"W-well I have t-tables... to... I'll be going now!" Onew said before running off to work to avoid his brother's beating.

Jonghyun groaned as he felt his hands and feet begin to move. He didn't open his eyes, not until he felt his fingers and toes being soaked in a warm and wet substance. Jonghyun sat up abruptly, spilling water on his wrinkled silk bed sheets and looking around the large room. His eyes settled on two heads and he glared.
"Damn! He woke up!"
Jonghyun looked down.
"You put my hands and feet in water!?" Jonghyun pushed away the bowls and shook his now wet fingers at the twins in front of him. The two nodded.
"Why!?"
"We thought you'd pee in your bed." They said in unison.
Jonghyun looked at the two sitting in front of him innocently. The twins, Seohyun and Key were a mischievous duo. They constantly annoyed Jonghyun and held their height over him even though they were younger.
"Well now that you're awake..." Kibum started.
"...Umma and appa said we are going to a restaurant tonight." Seohyun finished.
"Get up and get dressed." They said together.
Jonghyun groaned.
He grabbed two pillows from behind him and chucked them at the two. They both dodged and scurried out of his room snickering. He fell backwards harshly onto his bed. He hated mornings, and the twins never woke him up in nice ways. He sat up again trying to fully wake himself up.
It was going to be a long day.
-----------------------------
Jonghyun leaned his head against the window of the car door.
He had his headphones on as loud as they could go. He sighed and looked out of the window. Hyun glanced at his family then back out the window as they pulled into the parking lot. The restaurant was huge with two big white pillars that held up a sign that read ‘Maison De Pompier.’ He pulled his headphones off and wore them around his neck.
He got out of the car and walked behind his family. They always walked with him far behind them. They always knew what to do when they were with each other. They were always the perfect family. Always.
Always - a word he constantly used when referring to family. They were perfect. Perfect - Another word he used when talking about his family. They were completely, fully, utterly, constantly, and always perfect.
It disgusted him.
He wasn’t like them. He couldn’t keep his shirt tucked or wear dress shoes or a tie. He didn’t fit in with them. He and his family were from two totally different worlds.
Kibum and Seohyun did cause mischief, but they never got in trouble. It was always “Oh they’re so young give them a break.” They got straight A’s; they were the highest in their grade in fact, and were both Presidents of their class. They were the babies of the family. Boa, his older sister, was the child anyone would kill to have. She got the highest grades in her college. And she always kept her room neat and tidy. She listened to their parents and never argued. She did most of the house work without being asked, helped their mom cook, and was in an Ivy League college studying for a business major. She was the first born. But he was the middle child. And never listened to their parents. He always managed to upset them and just got tired of trying to impress them.
Jonghyun was jolted out of his thoughts when the doorman let them in to the restaurant.
He sighed again as he looked around the expensive looking restaurant. Boa turned to him with an annoyed look.
“Jonghyun! Suck it up! This is a really nice restaurant!” She whispered harshly.
Jonghyun glared at her.
“Dinner at home would have been just as nice.” He shot back.
His family was taken to a table. He flopped into the chair, and started to bite one of his two snake bites, his parents always told him to take them out. Apparently it wasn’t what a “gentleman” would wear.
When were they going to realize that Boa would become more of a gentleman than he would ever be?
“Jonghyun, we’re at a restaurant!” his mother squeaked, glancing at him nervously, “Please act like more like a gentleman.”
Jonghyun sighed again. Obviously it would be a long time before they realized. He just glanced away from his mom with a bored look. He pulled his headphones back up to his ears and turned them up so he didn’t have to hear them talk.
He watched his sister talked to his parents, probably about something unimportant, not noticing that the twins were currently mixed salt into her drink while she was distracted. Jonghyun pulled his own drink a little closer and pretended not to notice, knowing better than to get in between the twins and their pranks.
Oh well.
Better her than him anyway.

Onew rushed to grab the glasses his brother told him to take to table six. He started to walk towards the table, fake smile firmly implanted onto his face. He hated having to carry glassed on that tray, especially wine glasses. He dropped things and tripped too much for that. Which apparently made all these rich bastards mad.
He made his way, walking as careful as he could. Onew smiled wider as he started to approach the table.
They were a nice looking family. They had a daughter sitting politely waiting, and another daughter and a son, who looked to be around the same age, sitting next to her. And then, Onew’s eyes settled on the other boy. He looked punk and didn’t seem to want to be there.
Onew rolled his eyes. Just another spoiled rich kid.
A young woman backed up her chair just as Onew start to walk past, and bumped into him harshly. Onew cursed himself for not paying more attention and getting lost in his thoughts, as he stumbled to keep his balance and at the same time not spill the drinks. He regained his balance quicker than he thought and was surprised to have not spilled anything. He smirked at his victory and started at the table again, after bowing and apologizing to the woman he ran into.
He smiled at the thought of getting glasses to a table without spilling anything. It’d be a first for him. But his pleasant thoughts didn’t last long as he felt himself trip over seemingly nothing. He looked up from the floor and gasped as the wine glass splashed the wine all into the rebellious looking boy’s face.
He expected him to get up and start to yell and scream, but was shocked to see him doing nothing but taking off his head phones and cleaning them off nonchalantly. He scrambled up off the floor and squeaked out apologizes to the family.
“It’s no problem.” The rebellious son spoke.
Onew blushed and started to bow, “No it’s my fault. I should have been paying more attention and I didn’t even have anything to trip on and--”
The other cut off Onew’s ramble when he got up and smiled sweetly at him.
“It’s really okay.”
-----------------------------
Jonghyun glanced at a boy who was stumbling after a girl rammed her chair into him.
He turned around and apologized?! Jonghyun thought to himself, as he watched the boy bow and start back toward their table. Then he saw the boy trip. What did he trip over anyway?
The wine glass spilled splashing into his face. He froze. He wiped his face with the back of his hands. And instead of being upset like he wanted to be, he wanted to ask the kid if he was okay. He remembered his headphones, pulled them off his head and starting to wipe them off. He glanced up as the other started to apologize.
“It’s no problem.” He said nonchalantly. It wasn’t like his headphones were damaged or anything. Then an idea sprung into his head. He glanced at the other as he started to ramble about not tripping over anything and how sorry he was.
He’s always saying sorry. Jonghyun chuckled to himself.
He got up cutting off the other.
“It’s really okay.” He started to walk away.
Two hands grabbed his arm. He looked back and was met with two set of eyes. They both had one hand on his arm.
“Where are you going?” They asked in unison.
“Just to the bathroom...” Jonghyun gave them an innocent look. “…to clean this off.”
They looked at him suspiciously, but let go of his arm.
Jonghyun mentally did a victory dance as he waltzed to the bathroom now undisturbed. This was perfect. Once inside the bathroom he took out his phone and began dialing.
“Yah! Minho… are you with Heechul?” Jonghyun asked. When his friend assured him he was he sighed in relief.
“I need to get the fuck out of here. Come get me.” The quiet boy on the other end of the cell phone agreed.
“Bring my bike too okay?” Jonghyun smiled as the other agreed for the first time.
“Thanks Minho.” The other hung up without saying goodbye but Jonghyun was used to it by now. He just sighed and flipped his expensive phone shut.
How he just had to figure out how to get out of here.
“Bingo.” He grinned when he spotted a slightly open window, just large enough to fit one Kwon Jonghyun through to freedom.
-----------------------------
Onew sighed as he walked home. It was a little chilly and he had left his jacket at school. He especially miserable today. Not only did he spill a drink on a customer, that customer had apparently disappeared as well. That disappearance caused the family to be in an uproar. And then they blamed Onew. The argument caused a scene and his mother had to come out herself and personally apologize. He wasn’t sure what would have happened if the two youngest had butted in, saying that Jonghyun had a plan to leave the whole time.
The family had left though.
And Kangin said their meal was coming out of HIS salary.
Most of the money he had was already taken from him by his older brother anyway. But Onew knew he meant well. It had been his fault anyway so he should be held responsible. And he was sure Kangin must have really needed the money he took from Onew anyway.
He was sure his older brother also had a reason for abandoning him at the restaurant that night. Perhaps he really had somewhere too go an Onew was taking too long to come out to the car. It didn’t matter though. A good walk wouldn’t do him any harm. Even if their house was 5 miles away from the restaurant.
Onew slung his backpack up higher as he trudged along the sidewalk, not at all affected by the darkness and dangerousness of the neighborhood. He moved aside when he heard the sound of two motorcycles coming up behind him. He continued looking ahead, dreaming of the warm bed he would get to sleep in when he reached his destination.
Onew froze a little when he noticed the motorcycles slowing behind him. He might not be afraid of the neighborhood but he certainly didn’t want to be kidnapped. Who kidnapped someone on a motorcycle anyway?
“Yah!” He turned around and noticed the boy from the restaurant before on a black motorcycle. Sitting behind him was the pretty male he had seen at the school before and next to him on a yellow motorcycle was the high school student who had been the voice of reason in that little scuffle earlier. Was he even old enough to drive?
“What are you doing here so late? It’s dangerous.” Onew scoffed and continued walking, the others followed him still.
“I’m walking home what does it look like?” He really should be nice to the boy. His parents apparently came to the restaurant; maybe he would say something bad to them. But Onew couldn’t find it in his heart to care at the moment. He was cold and tired. He just wanted to get home and do his homework.
“Like I said it’s dangerous. I’ll give you a ride. Here get on.” Onew frowned, not even turning to look at him.
“Like I’d get on a motorcycle with a random stranger. You’d probably kidnap me.”
“Who kidnaps someone on a motorcycle anyway?!” Onew ignored him and continued walking.
“You’re going to get tired~” He sang.
“My house is near here.” Onew snapped.
The other three followed him for another 30 minutes. The pretty one complained mercilessly. Finally Onew stopped and turned around.
“Are you going to follow me all night?”
“Are you homeless?”
“What?! No!”
“Then let me take you home. I promise you I can’t kidnap you.” Onew contemplated as his shoulders ached from the weight of his books. The other probably wasn’t trying to kidnap him. People didn’t kidnap people on motorbikes. And what benefit would he get from kidnapping someone like Onew? He didn’t have any money- not that the other seemed to need it, and he wasn’t exactly a pretty young girl to take advantage of.
“Fine.”
“I’m glad.” Onew smiled a little as the other beamed at him and stopped his bike.
“Get off Heechul.”
“What?!”
“Ride with Minho I need to take him home.”
“You know I hate riding with Minho! He drives like a grandpa!” Onew looked at the other boy who was leaning casually against his bike, not even caring that he had just been insulted.
“I don’t care. I’ll meet you guys later.”
“Aish! Damn you Kwon Jonghyun. Always chasing fucking skirts.” He grumbled as he got off the bike and walked over to Minho’s.
“What happened to bros before hos!?” He screamed.
“I never did subscribe to that.” The boy called after them as Heechul sped off with Minho at an ungodly speed. Minho definitely did not drive like a grandpa.
Onew blinked when he turned to him and beckoned him to get onto the bike. He climbed behind him cautiously, the hard leather seat unfamiliar but pleasant to the boy. He quickly told Jonghyun the directions.
“Hold on tight.”
“Eh?”
And they were off.
Onew held on tightly to the other’s waist. At first he felt uncomfortable, but soon he melted into the other’s warmth, the cool air blowing past them became pleasant to Onew, the other’s cologne wafting past him in gentle breezes. The night suddenly didn’t seem so bad.
“What next?” Jonghyun asked as they stopped at a stop sign. Onew sighed, a little sad the ride was over and got off.
“It’s fine I’ll walk from here.” He lived two streets over now, and if there was a chance that Jonghyun was a psycho killer then he shouldn’t exactly show him where he lived. It would be a little suspicious for him to ride home on a motorbike anyway and he didn’t want to cause trouble for Kangin.
“Are you sure?”
Onew nodded at the boy on the bike as he turned to leave.
“Wait!” He turned back around when he hand was grabbed and the other stood in front of him.
“I didn’t get your name! Mine’s Kwon Jonghyun… I… um what’s yours?” Onew smiled brightly at the other, who let his hand go.
“Kim Onew.”
A/N: Sorry it took forever. I've been busy with school work. I had writers block for the longest time, but I finally finished!
