Title: Yuletide Carols

Summary: Hongki is leaving his boyfriend of 2 years Jaejin on a college scholarship to study abroad in America all the while Jonghun is struggling to overcome his feelings for Wonbin's boyfriend Minhwan. The holidays have never looked so promising.

Wonbin glanced out the window, and sighed. He watched as four black birds fluttered into the blackened sky, barely making them out in the darkness of the night.
He glanced at the picture of Minhwan on the background of his phone. Hurt flashed across his eyes.
Let’s start a riot, a riot. Let’s start a…
Wonbin looked at the new message he got at from Hongki.
‘Hey, Where are you?!?! Jonghun and I are here.’
Shit.
Wonbin mentally slapping himself for loosing track of time and rushed to the door, grabbing his hat and jacket.
He opened the door and shivered at the sudden burst of cold air. He looked out toward the school he had promised Hongki and Jonghun he’d meet them at and blew out warm air, that appeared as smoke in the cold night.
Wonbin pulled his hat down over his ears and trudged into the snowy night .

Wonbin trotted up to Jonghun and Hongki, panting from the sprint from his house to the school.
“I’m telling you guys…. It’s not… very good to sprint on… ice.” He managed between breathes.
Everyone around him chuckled. “So, hyung, I heard you got that scholarship to the college in America.” Jonghun directed toward Hongki after they all settled down.
Hongki smiled brightly, “Yeah, I’m super excited about it and--” Hongki was cut off by the song coming from the man that had asked him the question.
Oh girl, I cry ,cry. You’re my all, Say good bye, bye. Oh my love.
“Aish, sorry, hyung, I need to get this.” Jonghun interrupted, turning from the group.
“Minhwan-ah? Is something wrong?” Jonghun asked worriedly.
He paused, “You don’t call someone this late to just talk, Minhwannie, what’s up?”
Jonghun rolled his eyes and paused again, “I’m in the middle of something right now Minhwan call me back later, okay? ….Okay, but call me at a reasonable time next time, and have something to talk about.”
Jonghun turned back to see both Wonbin and Hongki staring at him. He looked back innocently, “What?”
Hongki just raised an eyebrow.
“Was that Minhwan, Jonghun?” Wonbin asked looking at him in slight surprise.
“Yes,” Jonghun replied simply.
“What’d he want.” Jonghun said starting to show his jealousy.
Jonghun sighed, totally oblivious to his friend’s feelings, “Just wanted to talk.”
“Don’t you have a girlfriend?” Wonbin snapped at him, starting to glare.
“Yeah so?” Jonghun glowered. “What are you trying to say?”
Hongki looked back and forth between the two before decided on cutting them off before anything got too serious, “Hey, you guys I highly doubt anything is going on between Jonghun and Minhwan.” Hongki tried.
“Who said anything was going on between us?” Jonghun shot a glare at Hongki.
“No one, I just--”
“Why are you even in this anyways, Hongki?” Wonbin glared at him also.
“Yeah your leaving anyways,” Jonghun growled.
“You know what? Fine!” Hongki said, surprisingly a lot calmer than the other two, “I was just trying to help.” Hongki got up and stomped off.
Wonbin glared at Jonghun and marched off in the opposite direction.
Jonghun looked at the floor and sat for a few minutes, alone. He needed to clear his head and rearrange his thoughts.

I like to laugh so my friends won't know
When the bell rings I just don't wanna go home
Minhwan put down his phone and sighed. He’d been sighing a lot lately. He looked around his room. No matter what he looked at, Jonghun always appeared.
Minhwan flopped onto his bed burying his face in the pillows.
He can’t do this. He absolutely can’t do this to Wonbin, to their relationship.

I don’t understand how can you smile with all those tears in your eyes
Wonbin rushed to Minhwan's door, knocking harder than he probably should have.
He’s probably not awake. Wonbin glanced away from the door.
He heard shuffling around and then the lock on the door click. The door slowly opened and Minhwan’s head slowly came into view.
“Wonbin? It’s late at night, what are you doing here?”
Wonbin wanted to roll his eyes at Minhwan and how grumpy he was when woken up, he wanted to chuckle, ruffle his hair, to just tell him how much he loved him, but he couldn’t bring himself to do so.
He wanted everything to be back to normal.
Minhwan gave an impatient look. “There’s nothing you want…?” He paused for a moment, and when Wonbin still couldn’t bring himself to do or say anything he started to close the door.
“Minhwan!” Wonbin grabbed Minhwan’s wrist pulling him into a suffocating hug, holding him captive within his arms. He didn’t want to let go. He feared Minhwan would fade away. Belong to someone else. He back off just enough to look at him with sad eyes, eyes Minhwan didn’t see often.
“Minhwan.” Wonbin said in a low sweet whisper. He said it more to himself than anything.
Don’t… Don’t call me like that. Not with your sad eyes and your sweet, smooth, soothing voice.
“I’m sorry,” He whispered louder this time, “I’m so sorry.”
Please. Please don’t apologize. Don’t make me want to hug you and tell you everything’s okay, when in truth it’s not.
Wonbin leaned down more for a kiss.
Minhwan heart skipped a beat. He blushed but looked away with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes as it normally did. A sad smile.
I don't believe you when you say
Everything will be wonderful someday
“It’s getting late and cold, Oh-sshi, you should start to walk home.”
Minhwan readjusted Wonbin’s scarf so it was actually wrapped around his neck.
With that, he turned, closing the door with a small thud, not glancing back even once.
Wonbin stared at the door in disbelief.
I’m not going to let this be over. He thought trudging into to the night, his figure fading into the snow that fell carelessly from the sky.
