While he may have had a habit of being a liar in his own personal defense, one thing Campbell Alexander wasn't was any kind of phony. Therefore, he left his apartment in its natural state before bringing Ivy over.
Its natural state wasn't much to laugh at, nor was is anything to revel in, either. A comfortable leatherette couch, with a small television in a hutch across. Small kitchen (but not as small as the television). The large dining table, made of finely-varnished maplewood, was Campbell's pride and joy.
The little stereo was still playing the same Ben Folds CD that had been on for three and a half days. Campbell never found much that made him want to change the music - it was only a backdrop.
Judge's bed edged a little closer to the doorway every day. He hated not being there when people of any sort came in and out, and Campbell had never protested.
So, when he lead Ivy inside, he nearly tripped on the dog bed. But not quite.
