hangin' out in philly with emily beck. being pretty relaxed.
i had a talk with my mom and another with brett (my boss) about work and came to the conclusion that a job is just a fucking job. i have weekends/evenings free, i make a shit ton of money, and i can go to work looking like a hobo. i can go to work and do my best and try to make the necessary changes within the company instead of just trying to get away and pass the shittiness on to someone else. so, until something better comes along, i am sticking with Urban.
on thursday, after work, i sat in traffic in the south side for over an hour, and then i headed to philly. the drive was fucking nice. i had some cookies and a bottle of anbesol to keep my mouth numb so as to avoid the pain of my incoming wisdom tooth. i didn't get here until about midnight, so we went to bed shortly after i got here.
yesterday we got falafel (the best i've ever had) and ate it in a nice park where we were each paid $5 CASH to fill out some survey about relationships for some college student. after that, we came back here and hung out with the dude emily's dating, marty, and his friend derek, who was really funny. emily had to work at 6, so i rode my bike around philly for hours. it was pretty fucking cool. i bought a new flavor of So Delicious at Whole Foods, but i haven't tried it yet. i also bought Rite's of Spring's self-titled album, Make Believe's "Shock of Being," and Fifteen's "Buzz," all of which i'm really excited about. the second store i went to has 3 or 4 other Fifteen CDs, so i'm going to check my account balance today and probably go pick up the rest of those. around 9, i think, emily decided that she was going to Jersey with Marty, so i met Lizzie on South Street, and we walked for a long time and i met her sister and grandma and she showed me some cool things about the city, and we sat in a nice park for a long time and had a really good talk. we walked back to emily's, and she still wasn't here, but i had her keys, so lizzie and i hung out and had more really good talks for a while until emily got back around 4:30 or so. emily went to bed, and lizzie and i kept talking, and it felt really good. lizzie stayed here and slept on the couch, and this morning i took her to meet her sister, and then took emily to work.
soon i will go get some breakfast at Whole Foods, and then back to the record stores, and around 3 or 4, i will hopefully meet emily's parents, and then i am off to Red Lion, PA for a show with the beagle club (playing drums!). tomorrow emily and i might try to hit up a public pool or a beach, and then the BC will be here for a show in the city that i think lizzie+friends, emily, weeg(?!), morgan(?), and mike the mack will all be attending. i think on monday emily and i are gonna go to NYC, and then i'm headed home on tuesday.
i was counting on this time away to help me clear my head, and it really is. it's kind of funny, though, that the biggest contributor to that has been lizzie, a girl who i see all the time in pittsburgh. she made me laugh so much last night.
i hope josh is coming with the beagle club. he hasn't spoken to me since monday.
i also hope luke is shipping it in New York. he said that if he wins this tournament again (the one where he won $187K last year), he'll pay for me to get cooking lessons, so long as i cook for him. totally down.
happy birthday, emily burton. i love you.
