The people who have left just disappear without a trace. If you check the contact number from a person who disappeared, then you'll get a "out of service" message.

... Beyond Johto? Well, I might have heard of a place called "Kanto" from a few of the books I've checked out here.

That's right... But I know that scenario personally from a friend of mine who left without a trace. Me and my friends had searched all around the town for her, but we couldn't find her. And her Pokemon, money and items that she had on her were left behind too.

... Oi, you're right! That did pass my mind a couple of times, but I didn't know if I wanted to believe if it was our Japan or this world's version of Kanto.

Have you considered that she was kidnapped or harmed in any way? If that happened a long time ago, there's the chance she could have been murdered as well.
