[Sam admires the food from where he's leaning against the door frame, close to awe. He walks over, shaking his head and grinning, and places a gift bag on the table.]

Feast or not, I'm..pretty sure this is the first real Christmas dinner I've ever had. Thanks, Anna.

Christmas was a big deal with my human parents. Last year I had a huge party, my friend Priestly helped me.

[She puts a plate down in front of him.]

There's not nearly as much food this year, but I was kinda on my own for this one.

I would've offered to help if my skill with cooking went beyond spaghetti and meatballs.

[Another second to admire everything on the table.]

This really is amazing. I'm impressed.

Mom taught me.

[She started piling food on his plate, smiling a little ruefully at the old, human memories.]

[Sam listened quietly, just watching the way she spoke. There was always a certain sense of guilt that came with being near Anna. That life was what she wanted. And in many ways, they were the ones that took it away.

He lowered his head to the plate of food in front of him.] I, uh. I got you something. It's nothing too special, I just... [He pursed his lips into an awkward smile - it was unusually difficult - and handed her the gift bag.]

Sam, you didn't have to. [She took the box, giving a little shake with a smile.] Do you want me to open it now?

That's up to you, you can open it whenever you want to. But you're family, so, [A small pause, and he smiled] Merry Christmas, Anna.

[She smiled, and started to open the package.] Call me greedy.

[She pulled out the cross and her expression took on a little awe as she turned it over in her hand. Drawing her finger along the familiar-looking tree she whispered.] Sam, is this...

[There was a bit of uneasiness in his smile, but it seemed as though she liked it.] A little bit of home.

It's beautiful, Sam. [She gave him a hug.]

[The hug was quite unexpected, so ittook a second to ease into, but he hugged her back with a grin.] Glad you like it.

[It surprised her almost as much as it surprised him and when she pulled back she was blushing a little.] I do. It's a good reminder of the past.

[He noticed the slight Snead and scratched the back of his head a little sheepishly] I thought so too. We could use a good reminder every once in awhile.

Yes we could. [She got up and picked up a long box, handing it to Sam with a smile.]

This is for you.
