Chapter 7

It didn’t take long for a practical workable plan to come together, and even Dean and Owen had to admit that it was a pretty good one, not that they ever planned on saying so. They were both in tacit agreement that several ego's needed to be kept in check.

Of course to Owen's utter joy and total amusement, Jack through a hissy-fit worthy of the biggest diva on the West End of Broadway when he was informed that Ianto would be going along with his brother, the Winchesters and Bobby to teach the Avengers all they needed to know about hunting demons. Tosh had quickly spoiled Dean and Clint and the medic's fun when Jack stopped acting like a prat and listened to her soothingly tell him that he would be going along with Ianto.

Rhys had offered to go pick up Alice and Stephan and bring them to the Hub for safety and Jack was grateful he hired the older Welshman. For the time being, Mica and Rhiannon would be staying in the TARDIS; the TARDIS' shielding had already had a positive effect on the young girl and Mica had awoken, a little weak but it was a good start. Johnny and David would be staying in the Hub with the hopes that David could help keep Stephan busy and unaware of the world's turmoil while the adults figured out a way to save the day.

The Doctor and Donna would be the go-betweens, keeping both groups informed of the others' progress and it seemed to sooth Ianto and Gareth to know that they would be able to keep an eye on their older sister. It pained them to see her so weak and the twins vowed they would do everything in their power to fix the problems as soon as they could.

Coulson knew the biggest challenge facing them was going to be explaining that yes, demons were indeed real. 'I have no doubt that Thor will easily believe me; as the God of Thunder he's used to stuff like this. It will be the others that will be the hard sell, especially Stark.' Oh, yes, Coulson knew that Tony was going to be the proverbial pain in his ass about this. 'He and Dean are going to get along just fine.'

The instant he learned that they would be travelling in the TARDIS, Dean had made no effort whatsoever to hide his disbelief. He'd been pacing around her for more than fifteen minutes, counting off each step, measuring and calculating, trying to discover her secrets. Refusing to admit that he was stumped, he resorted to sarcasm to mask is discomfort. "So, I'm supposed to believe that this tiny blue box can not only fit all of us in it but also travel through time and space?"

The Doctor narrowed his eyes dangerously as he grasped the hunter by the arm and dragged the protesting man into his TARDIS, his words echoing back to the others, "You come along with me, Mr Winchester, and I'll be expecting your apology right away once you see how wonderful my TARDIS really is."

Sam rolled his eyes and hiked the bag containing all his supplies up higher on his shoulder and trailed after his lover and the Time Lord; 'Lord, please don't make me spend the entire trip doing damage control!'

Dean wasn't the only one who was staring at the TARDIS in disbelief; Clint had his own doubts about the blue police box. 'A 1960's police box! Seriously? Am I supposed to believe that it's a time machine? Shouldn't it be something a little cooler, maybe shiny chrome like the Enterprise?'

"Dude! It is seriously bigger on the inside!" Dean's shocked voice rolled through the TARDIS' open doors and echoed all the way up to Jack's office, where he and Ianto looked at each other and grinned brightly at one another. The glorious TARDIS had gotten another one! Ianto afforded himself a quick smug clap on the back; so far he was the only person to walk through her doors that had never commented on the miracle of her insides. Instead, if he remembered correctly, and of course he did no matter what Jack or anyone else said, he'd commented on her beauty, as befitted any woman as special as she was.

Now curious beyond measure, Clint wandered into the TARDIS to see what the big fuss was all about and against his will, his jaw dropped in shock as he realised it was indeed bigger on the inside. When he'd pulled himself together, a wide grin spread across his face as he stuck his head out of the TARDIS and Coulson wanted to groan at the devious look on his lover's face. "We need to figure out how to get our space at the Avenger Tower to do this, Phil! Think of all the extra places I could have my wicked way with you."

"No." With a single word, Coulson effectively crashed all of Clint's dreams and the archer began immediately to sulk.

Ianto sighed in exasperation as he saw the hopeful look in Jack's eyes. "No, we cannot put Time Lord technology in your bunker or our flat."

Jack joined Clint in pouting. "You never let me have any fun," the immortal muttered as he kicked at a nearby desk.

"I'll remind you of that the next time you want to help me in the Archives," Ianto returned with a sharp amusement as he turned on his heel and walked off.

Alarmed by the thought of no more illicit trysts in the Hub's lower levels, Jack immediately changed his turn. "No, that's all right, Ianto! We always have fun!" Jack rushed off after his young lover, well aware of the fact that he'd just put his rather large boot right in his mouth. "Ianto, wait!"

"There better be some strong alcohol where we're going," Owen muttered as he finished packing his med kit for the trip. It was bad enough putting up with Jack's ravenous libido and childish behaviour, now he had to deal with Dean and Clint; this was going to be a long trip despite how fast it would be over. 'And then I still have to work with these three knuckleheads to save the world, fun times ahead. I wonder if it's too late to stay here.'

He was pulled from his morose thoughts by the return of Ianto and Jack, and he could tell immediately that they'd kissed and made up, if Jack's smug expression and Ianto's slightly rumpled appearance were any indication.

As if knowing what Owen was thinking Jack sent a cheery wink to Kathy, "Have fun and try not to destroy the world before we save it," Jack ordered as he snagged Ianto's hand and Owen's arm and dragged them into the TARDIS with him.

Tosh squeezed Andy's hands before placing a loving kiss on his lips. "I'll be back before you know it," she promised softly.

"Just try not to get taken in by all the fancy gadgets they have at SHIELD." That was what Andy was truly worried about; unlike the men, who would only have eyes for heroes clad in spandex, Tosh would be around those like her who understood her true genius in ways he never could. He knew he wasn't as smart as they were and it scared him how easy he could lose the woman he truly and genuinely loved.

Sensing his fears, Tosh flashed Andy a true and loving smile. "You have nothing to worry about, my heart is totally and completely yours. Not even the fanciest gadgets could stop me from returning to you." Tosh promised as she caressed his cheek.

"I'm sorry I'm acting like a fool, I'm just afraid that someday someone will come along who can offer you the world." Andy finally admitted one of his deepest fears to his girlfriend.

Tosh shook her head gently. "They can offer me the world all they want, but it wouldn't make any difference. I don't need the world, I just need you."

"Oi! Break-up the love fest; you're getting just as bad as Captain Horny and the Tea-Boy," Owen snarked from his spot against the TARDIS' door; he'd been witness to the tender scene after having been sent by Jack to collect Tosh.

"You know," Kathy had a thoughtful face as she gazed at Tosh. "You could always leave Owen in New York, if you wanted to.

Quickly recognizing the belligerent look on Owen's face, Tosh knew she better get herself and Owen into the TARDIS before this became another one of their infamous snarking matches. Everyone had been amazed to see the snarky side of Kathy that seemed to be appearing more and more often since she started working for Torchwood. It was not a surprise, however, that Owen was the one who brought it out more than anyone else on the team.

"Come on, Owen." Hiding her smile, Tosh pulled herself away from Andy, grabbed Owen by the elbow and dragged him into the TARDIS with her.

Coming to stand next to Andy, Kathy rested her hand on his arm. "Don't worry, they'll be back in no time, safe and sound. Jack won't let anything happen to them; as much as I hate to admit it he is our dashing hero."

Andy snorted; leave it to Kathy to help ease some of his worry. "Better hope Jack doesn't review the CCTV and hear you saying that."

Eyes wide with horror, Kathy looked up at the closest camera. "Oh shit!" she mouthed silently. If Jack found out what she'd said, he'd never let her live it down.
