One of the other co-ops who predated me at one of my co-op terms has
this amusing photo, which also appeared in Consumer Reports (I've been trying to find a copy of it for awhile).
Although I do find the tag to be clever, I don't understand why people seem to hate George W. Bush so much. I wouldn't say that he's doing a terrific job, and he definitely has made some mistakes with the "Attaq on Iraq" and tax cuts. That said, I think that it's unfair to pick on him for being part of the so-called "Christian Conservative Right". Why is that people of faith are picked on for it when they're in politics? It happened to Stockwell Day, too. There's nothing wrong with bringing the view of a large number of constituents into Parliament for debate or consideration. Argh.
This is the first of several "about friends" posts. As I specified in
the rules, I'm only doing a limited number of posts. They're in no particular order, so the third person to response won't necessarily be the third person reviewed. If sorry if you didn't make it in under the limit. (I got A LOT of responses. I was surprised by the return rate.)
starinthesky15 is the only person whom I have friended without meeting beforehand. After having a negative experience with a nasty stalker (
pedram), I was somewhat hesitant to friend her and
kishmo since I didn't really know them. However, I did read their journals sporadically and found them to be interesting. After Sam & Kish had listed me on their friends lists for
some time and knowing that they were good friends of
theenforcer, I decided that they were trustworthy and added them. Besides, navigating over to their individual journals was starting to get annoying. :)
I've only met Sam in person three times. The first time was last
December when she made a surprise visit to SPUC. We chatted briefly, found some other LJers and Graeme, and had supper. I had to cut it short that night, since I was also attending the WCF banquet that night. (It should be noted that I was the first non-Graeme SPUCer to meet her.) The other two times that I've seen her were at Blackforest and this week.
The colour I use to represent her in my friends list is pink, since she was the only female who needed a colour last time I did a
friends-colour-shuffle and pink had become vacant (previously, she was light grey). I know that I would be mildly offended if someone coloured me pink.
What else is there to say about her? She's a
mad scientist, a John Lennon fan, and fairly neat person.
Oh, and I think that I've forgotten most of the C++ that I learnt last term. Darn it.
