The end

This my last entry on LiveJournal.

I got this account when my sister, maroon_lagoon, gave me an invite code back in October 2003. There weren't many people to read back then (just enigmaticdan, lambda_calculus, elindros8897, katforchrist, and firstgold). Over time, more and more people joined LJ, and somewhere between 2004 and 2005 it became a moderate phenomenon at SPUC; it wasn't unusual to see 20 or 30 posts per day back then. During my second and third co-op jobs, this was a great tool to keep in touch with everyone scattered across Ontario.

But all good things must come to an end. Many people have moved on to newer social networking platforms; others (myself included) just can't sustain the effort required to keep posting here. This was a fantastic tool at one time in my life. Now it's time to say goodbye.

I only have two regrets from all my years on LJ. The first is that many of my early entries sound so corny and bizarre, like they were written by another person; it's embarrassing for me to go back and read them now. The second is that I didn't talk very much about Jesus on here; I wish that I had been more open with my faith and some of the things I was working through.

This journal isn't going away any time soon; I'll keep this online for people to peruse. I will continue to check my friends list periodically. If you're interested, I have listed some of my favourite entries in this entry.

If you want to keep reading up on what's happening in my life, you can check out Blogspot; I'll be posting there with more regularity going forward. I also post regularly on Twitter.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their lives on LJ and for reading what I had to say. I enjoyed the community here for several years. Many good friendships were nurtured through LiveJournal. Please keep in touch.

Peace,
Backguy
