"The Simpsons" clip shows

Having been on the air for twenty years now, "The Simpsons" have had their fair share of clip shows. Originally, the clip shows were merely compilations of highlights from previous episodes. Perhaps the most famous of these episodes is "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular" (4F20), hosted by the venerable Troy McClure. This episode showed excerpts from "The Simpsons" on "The Tracy Ullman Show", deleted scenes, questions from viewers, and the alternate endings to "Who Shot Mr. Burns?".

Over time, playing off the success of the "Treehouse of Terror", the writers started producing several clip show-esque episodes. These episodes contained three smaller stories, usually with a related theme. There was one focusing on love stories, and another on Bible history. The first one of these multiple-segment episodes is "The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase" (3F31). This episode featured three new Fox shows featuring characters from "The Simpsons" - Chief Wiggum, P.I. (featuring Wiggum and Skinner in New Orleans), The Love-matic Grampa (featuring Grandpa Simpson and Moe), and The Simpson Family Smile-Time Variety Hour (featuring four-fifths of the Simpsons family).

And that's your daily dose of "The Simpsons" trivia.
