Dreams of Parliament

Last night, I had a dream. I was in a nice, wood-panelled conference room. I was sitting and waiting with four or five other high-ranking suits (none of whom I could recognise). I felt a bit out of place since I was wearing khakis and long-sleeved t-shirt, but I couldn't care less. None of us were sure why we were there.

Stephen Harper then walked into the room told us that he had invited all of us because he had hand-picked cabinet positions for each of us. However, since all of us had lost in the most recent by-elections, he would save those posts for when we actually won a by-election. (The post that he wanted to give me was related to telecommunications.) I can't remember what the other people's roles were going to be, but one of them was up for Minister of National Revenue. I felt a bit giddy, since I was learning all of the insider information straight from Harper's mouth.

I corrected Harper by saying that I had never run in a by-election before. He was surprised and insisted that I run in a by-election as soon as possible, to which I heartily agreed. But, since no by-elections were coming up soon, he sent me to summer camp to volunteer and hang out with my friends. And then I woke up.

Being hand-picked by Harper for ministerial work and then spending time at camp? I'll take that reality any day.
