Halloween statistics (or "How I felt lucky")

I went to a pumpkin carving at theenforcer, Steph, and Koji's house on Saturday night. stangerous and I made the best pumpkin ever. We're such geeks.

Today on the way home from work, I stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few staples. I ran into jstew, who suggested that I pick up some cheap candy for any kids who come by. I bought a package of 20 fun-sized chocolate bars (though I don't see why having less food makes it more fun).

Shortly after I arrived home, Jian (one of my housemates) got home with his groceries from the other nearby grocery store. He had also bought some candy for kids who might come by. He had bought a pound of Lindt chocolates. These cost $32/kg, so he spent about $15 on fine chocolate to give away to kids. Woww. I felt bad for him because I knew that we were going to have almost no one come by our house for Halloween (given the fact that we live in a student neighbourhood).

I had anticipated fewer than five kids coming by our house. I was correct: we had three come around 6:45pm, and one more arrive during Corner Gas. (If he had waited another 45 seconds, he would have arrived during the commercials.)

I didn't dress up at all today, mostly because I forgot my Homestar Runner costume at home. Maybe I'll dress up next year.
