I cannot express enough how much last night and today thus far has made up for my recent bad mood.
1. Finally getting to talk to Andy and Amanda last night online. Thank goodness.
2. Watching Cry Wolf. So bad. So unscary. So predictable. Such a well-spent afternoon.
3. Ben & Jerry's and Over The Hedge with Amy. Pretty cute movie, good ice cream, and excellent company.
4. My rediscovery of Sex and the City. Carrie Bradshaw, I love you.
5. It finally hit me that in about two and a half weeks I will be seeing Jack's Mannequin. HOLY CRAP. I've been listening to so much JM and SC (mostly JM, who am I kidding) recently that I've completely fallen in love with Andrew McMahon again. And I cannot WAIT to see him. With one of my favorite people. YESSSSSS.
6. The plan to stay in tonight and watch a legit horror movie. In my basement. With the lights off. By myself. Hell yeah.
7. Kansas next weekend :)
And most importantly, the Lollapalooza schedule came out! Although they didn't add OK Go (and I really really really wanted them to), I could not be more excited. I was literally bouncing in the kitchen this morning as I ate breakfast and read the article in the Trib.
I AM SO SO SO SO EXCITED.
The very rough plan thus far:
Friday 11:15--Bon Mots (heard a lot about them and supposedly they're cool)
Friday 12:30--The Subways
Friday 1:30--Aqualung (YESSSSS SO EXCITED)
Friday 2:30--Eels vs. Panic at the Disco (I am seeing PATD at Summerfest on July 8, so I guess it depends on what Jason (plus whoever else is coming) thinks. I'll probably split this one because I really like both of them. I've liked Eels for longer, but PATD seems like they'll put on a fantastic show. So I guess I'll see how I like them in July and figure it out.)
Friday 3:30--Stars vs. Editors (DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN. I absolutely adore Stars and they were one of the bands I was most excited to see at Lollapalooza this year. But I've also heard so much about the Editors and was really excited to check them out. I guess this round's going to Stars, but I'm not happy about missing the Editors.)
Friday 4:30--Ryan Adams (possibly split with Mates of State?)
Friday 5:30--Iron & Wine vs. The Secret Machines (Mellow pretty music or what is supposedly a ridiculously good show? I'll have to listen to more of both before I can decide. Right now, leaning toward Secret Machines though.)
Friday 6:30--Raconteurs (Jack White + Brendan Benson = awesome. However, there is a special guest slot next to them and if it turns out to be someone incredible, this could be a tougher choice than originally expected.)
Friday 7:30--Violent Femmes (OMG BEST SURPRISE ADDITION)
Friday 8:30--Death Cab For Cutie (sweeeeeet.)
Saturday 11:45--Matt Costa
Saturday 12:30--Wolfmother (I'm so intrigued)
Saturday 1:30--Feist vs. The Go! Team (another DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN. Just started listening to them both. Ugh. Really really tough call.)
Saturday 2:30--Built to Spill
Saturday 3:30--Nada Surf (HOLY CRAP I CAN'T WAIT)
Saturday 4:30--Gnarls Barkley vs. Sonic Youth (This is the hardest thing for me. I honestly have no idea which one I'm going to see. I was so excited to see them both. I DON'T KNOW!! What kills me about this is that there's nobody at 5:30 that I know and I am desperately hoping that they will switch one of those bands with one of these bands so that I can see both.)
Saturday 6:30--Common vs. Flaming Lips (I would love to see the Flaming Lips, but I've been listening to and liking Common a lot recently. I think I'm going to do Flaming Lips, though, because I'll get my hip-hop fill Saturday night!)
Saturday 7:30--New Pornographers (!!!!)
Saturday 8:30--Kanye West (HELL YEAHHHH)
Sunday 11:15--Katie Todd Band (I pseudo know Katie Todd)
Sunday 12:30--The Redwalls (loved their set last year and now that I have been listening to them for a year, I'm pumped to see them again)
Sunday 1:30--The Frames vs. The Hold Steady (heard good things about both, was interested in checking both of them out, so I should download stuff and figure it out)
Sunday 2:30--Ben Kweller (OMG OTHER BEST SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT)
Sunday 3:30--Andrew Bird vs. Hard-Fi vs. The New Amsterdams (really, really, really, really hard choice. I really want to see all three.)
Sunday 4:30--The Shins (yay yay)
Sunday 5:00--Of Montreal (yay--unfortunately the overlap between The Shins and Of Montreal will kill me)
Sunday 6:30--Queens of the Stone Age vs. Wilco (another tough call. I'm leaning Wilco, but I've heard QOSA put on a fantastic show.)
Sunday 7:30--Broken Social Scene
Sunday 8:15--Red Hot Chili Peppers (although I wish I didn't have to miss Broken Social Scene. Would it be worth it to skip BSS to get close for RHCP--like we skipped Spoon to get SUPER close for the Killers last year?)
Any recommendations or suggestions are welcome. I can't wait.
Yay for spending my lunch break at work doing that :)
