Learning the way.

I watched the two guys at the table. The two that I was serving, and yes I was a waitress here at this little diner. This wasn’t my first choice of jobs but I needed the money and hey putting that you were a Slayer on your resume doesn’t exactly land you the job you want. With no experience other then the bit of waitressing I did when I ran away ( Read more... )

I didn't really pay attention to the two guys before. Just you know served them like I do everyone else, unless of course it was one of our regulars which would always end up with large conventions. But now I was noticing just how cute this guy was. Even asking me to take a sit. I glance around then look back at him. I don't see why not, I mean we aren't that busy and the whole point about this little diner is being friendly. We were suppose to socialize with the customers especially new ones because they wanted us to get as many regulars as we could. So ok I would sit down for a few minutes. If I did it for too long then might get yelled at by my manger but they usually just say as long as we don't get busy and you still keep an eye on your table.

So I sit down across from him. The other one was his brother and I found out his name was Sammy. Cute, reminds me of Dawn and how I call her Dawnie.

"Guess I don't mind." I didn't really care about being asked questions, although it seemed kinda strange, almost thinking he might be a cop or a reporter. Most likely just a tourist and well wants to know if there are any good sites to see in this town.

She sat across from me and smiled, checking me out. Okay, she might not have been checking me out but I can bet a lot of moolah on the fact that well, she was checking me out. I unfolded my hands and smiled. She was going to make this easy enough.

"Do you remember the one family that sat up at the counter there oh, about...a half hour or so ago? The father with his two children?"

My hand found my pocket and I pulled out my wallet, looking down for a moment before pulling out my "Detective Winchester" card and sliding it across the table to her so she could see I was all official. Besides, it would only increase her attraction to me. I raised my eyebrows as if to ask her, "Well, do you want to fuck me?" Personally, I was eye-fucking the shit out of her.

Ok so I may not have had much experience in the dating field. I mean I did but you know dating dead guys for the most part and they were well guys I knew for other reasons, but I never really just met a guy like this, so this was somewhat different. It felt nice being able to just talk to a guy as a normal person, not because he was a vampire or I was saying him. But this guy who I didn't even know his name yet was so checking me out. His eyes were scanning up and down my body.

I listened as he talked, actually took me a bit by surprise. I mean I thought he was here wanting to flirt with me or something but he started to ask me about a customer. Which ok I guess he had to, even showed me his card. I guess I was just hoping he wanted to talk to me to talk to me. Even if he was talking to me for information he was still checking me out.

I look at the card that says "Detective Winchester" on it. "So your a detective then?" I perk a brow at him. "Yea, I remember the family. They come in here a few times a month."

That was really all I knew about them anyways. Well, I mean I heard they come in here a few times a month. I've only been working here for two weeks now so couldn't really tell how true that was, other then the fact that I did see them twice already.

She responded well and seemed receptive enough. She took up my card and said my name and fake occupation. God, I really wanted her saying my name while I was riding her but I was getting a little ahead of myself. Easy on the eyes set my card down and looked deep into my own...eyes. Okay, so I was hot, I was never the best linguist. I mean...wait, where was I? Oh, yeah. The blonde sitting legs up across from me. Her uniform accentuated everything about her and I wasn't complaining.

"Have you overheard or witnessed anything at all strange about that family Ms..." I scanned her shirt and caught her name on the pin. "Buffy."

I gave her my trademark Dean grin and leaned in, a sign that I really dug a girl. I looked outside to make sure for some reason the Impala hadn't made it back and to my pleasent surprise, it hadn't. I just hoped Sam was making it on his own.

Though, I had my pants full with Buffy, right here. I would deal with whatever trouble Sam had gotten into later. For now, Buffy was on my mind.

I have to admit the whole questioning thing made him a bit more attractive. I mean I've always heard that whole saying man in uniform, and well ok so he wasn't in a uniform but still you get the concept. Might be what attracted me to Riley, even though he wasn't in a uniform when I first met him, didn't find out about that till later. But he was the teachers aid so you could say he slightly had that uniform/power thing.

For a second there I was about to get all defensive when he said my name. Always have to get used to the whole name tag thing. I tend to forget and well I guess I'm always worried that some vampire or slayer or someone who knows me is going to find me for whatever reason. Not that it wouldn't maybe be a good reason and I wouldn't help someone if that was why they came to find me but still the whole trying to be a normal girl thing going on.

"Haven't seen anything strange about the family." So now I was starting to wonder what he wanted to find out about the family. They seemed perfectly normal to me and I mean I was usually all about being able to tell when something wasn't normal. Then again my always dewlt with supernatural stuff and hey it could just be some crazy thing that a normal person would do.

He leaned in which sent some chills down my spine. I don't even know why I guess it was that look his eyes gave me. I wanted to lean in and get closer to him but I stayed put. I wasn't normally wanting to just jump at someone but I guess it'd been too long. Last real person I was with was Spike and well he wasn't even a person really, he was a vampire.

If she had answered my honestly, then she knew nothing of the family. And judging by her big doe eyes I was guessing that she was a bit new here at this diner maybe like Sam and I. She leaned in but only slightly and I got more comfortable, moving my legs down a little farther. This was my subtle I like you alot, lets see if you get my drift and let me know what you think with your feet routine. Okay, so I needed to give it a new name. It really needed a new name. Main point was, my right foot brushed against hers as I continued.

"Well, thank you, Buffy. You were a lot of help." I pulled back my card and looked at it before looking up at her and tossing it back. It slid towards her and stopped. "Actually, if you think of anything else or...whatever, there's my number." I tilted my head in and moved my right foot a little farther, trying to make headway. "And I mean anything..."

I looked back around the bar to see who else was worth interrogating and realized there wasn't much here at all. And I had an idea. Sam might be busy staking the out all night and I would be lying if I said there was a certain reason I sent him on the stake-out and not interviewing. Reason number 1 being the hot blonde across from me. "I'm not going to lie Buffy. You intrigue me." I smiled. I had just cast off...and now I was reeling her in. It was only a matter of time.

"What time do you get off?"

I could see the shifting of his position as he seemed to sink further into the booth. Of course when I felt his leg rub against mine I figured it was just by mistake at first. Although it did feel nice, felt nice having contact with a male again, one that wasn’t a vampire and wasn’t just my friend. Not that he was more then a friend or even a friend but still.

I give him a slight smile as he thanks me. I watch as the card slides across the table towards me. I glance down at it for a moment before I pick it up. I was already starting to tell his type. Yea, really smooth talker, probably used the same sort of lines on all the girls. As much as it turned me away from him it also turned me towards him. I mean that was what I was all about right, I never really connected with anyone. Look at how I treated Spike. I didn’t really love him or maybe in the end I did. I don’t know, I mean I loved him in a way but not that kind of love. I cared about him and confined in him and hey he was the only one that stuck by me at all times. So yes, there was a sort of love there but it was different. I don’t connect, only really connected with Angel and well that can’t happen now can it. And since I was still like a cookie baking then why not just have fun and let this guy think he was winning here. Right now I was at the point where you could take out the cookies and poke them, maybe even take a small bite out of them but they still aren’t fully ready. A few people could take a bite out of me, but that was it. Just a small bite and then put me back in the oven till I’m fully baked.

“Well if I can think of anything…” I respond back to him with a flirty tone. I then feel his foot brushing up against mine again. Now I know he was doing it on purpose. I allow my foot to brush back up against his and lightly slide up his leg a bit. I could play with fire to.

Just as I was about to get up since it seemed like we were done here he then started to talk again. His tone of voice changed a bit and he told me that I intrigued him. “Guess I could say the same about you stranger.” I smile and almost start to blush but I manage to hold it back. “Never did catch your name, besides your last name.” I look up at the clock on the wall when he asks me what time I get off. “I get off in about wow time has gone by fast, in ten minutes.”

She responded to my leg brush with her leg brush and thus, our legs were brushing. I already called this. In a few hours we'd be in my motel room giving our best rendition of the beast with two backs. I smirked again, couldn't stop the damn smirking, before she had asked me my name. Well, I was suave, I was hip...but my name. I knew I had forgotten something important.

"Dean, my name's Dean."

She checked the clock and let me know it would be ten minutes and so I politely put my leg back to let her go do her thing for ten minutes. Besides, I had to make some calls first and I had to let her stew in the juices of lacking me. Basically, she'd miss me in these ten minutes. I knew it, she knew it. Hell, even Sam knew it and he wasn't even here. Well, wouldn't Sam get a surprise when he would see that "Do Not Disturb" sign on our motel door. Oh well, his lost. I'd be quick. I wasn't a complete insensative brother.

I watched her stand up before moving out of the booth and stepping outside. If I smoked this would be the part where I lit a cigarette and thought about the hot sex I was going to have tonight. Pulling out my cell I punched in Sammy's number and waited, hearing the ringer go off before getting his voicemail. Great, just great.

"Hey, Sam, it's your brother Dean. Just wanted to let you know I found a...lead of sorts and you just missed a thorough update. I hope whatever you're doing is more important then talking to your big bro because I'm about to be...well, let's just say key witness has a new meaning."

I hung up, happy with how cryptic and dishonest I was being before looking back inside. Buffy would be off work soon. I went back inside and slid back into my booth, looking at the check. Oh...good thing I hadn't left. I took out my wallet again and pulled out my money before getting up to go to the bathroom.

In the bathroom I did my business and looked in the mirror. I wanted to check how much money was left for now and realized thay me "reporter" card I used sometimes was missing. Looking through the entire contents of my wallet I set it down on the counter before looking back the way I came.

"Shit."
