So, in a bit of news not really directly related to my life: I just read that Jorja Fox is going to be leaving CSI this season. It's strange because, after the season premiere, I figured she'd be staying. With her leaving, I kinda doubt I'll watch CSI anymore. I really watched for Grissom and Sara, and without both of them there, I don't really see why I would still watch. I don't really feel all that bitter about it, though. I've seen every episode up to this point, and this is going on my fourth year watching it as it's broadcast (I watched the first three on DVD). I feel like I've had a good run with the show, and I got to see the two characters I love finally find their way to one another. It feels like it's been a full journey - if that's not too dramatic a statement for a television show (and it probably is). The one thing that I hope is that they find a happy way for her to go out. It would be so cruel and unusual, after all this time, to kill her off. Or to have her break things off with Grissom. I'm not going to read spoilers (although I so could, I have the best spoiler site ever), but I'm hoping they don't burn me. Not after all this time.
It's kinda funny, though, I'm dropping CSI and picking up Without a Trace, which I dropped last year. I don't intend to catch up on that one, though. I'm just going to pretend like last season never happened.
There's another thing I kinda hope comes out of all of this, and that's that there is a significant enough protest, or drop in viewers, or something that the people working at the network realize that they can't just replace people on the show like they're interchangeable with any face out there. Their audience has been around for 8 years now (you know, it's a bit astonishing that an ensemble has held together this long), and I'd wager they're pretty damned familiar with each of the 5 original CSIs.
Anyhow, that's my thing. I'm watching enough new TV shows that this isn't too much of a blow. Jesus, I'm watching too many new TV shows to be perfectly honest. But I'll miss CSI, in a weird, I'm a complete dork kinda way. It's the first show I ever watched really regularly, almost religiously. But, hey, now I'll be able to start Tivo-ing Grey's Anatomy again.
