A Happy Little Discovery

I've been on this market research panel for a couple years. It was fun at first, but then the novelty wore off. The surveys became boring (more like I became bored with them), time consuming, and not worth my time because inevitably I would get halfway through it and one of my answers would deem me unqualified for whatever research they were going for. Either that or the good ones, the ones that I was qualified for and were relevent to me, reached their maximum number of participants before I could get to them. I'd still get partial credit for the ones I was disqualified for, but it was teeny little amounts (a quarter here, 50 cents there....). Besides, the rewards weren't all that interesting. So...I lost interest.

Yesterday my interest was renewed. I got a GOOD survey about something I just studied up on last week for work, and I got to it before it filled up. The reward amount? Twenty-three bucks. For someone who is used to getting jack squat out of these surveys, that's a big deal. Granted, most of the rewards don't translate dollar for dollar when you cash them out but...here's the cool part...they just added a new reward option. Borders Bucks. At the $15 level you can get $15 in Borders Bucks added to your Borders Rewards account. This is especially exciting if you are me.

But it gets better.

Like I said, I've been on this panel for a couple years. And I've never once cashed out a reward. After finding this great Borders deal, I realized my rewards balance is just over $125 dollars.

I see a massive shopping excursion at Borders in my near future. Or (and this is much more likely, knowing me) several small ones.

Score one for the good guys*.

*Note: I am the good guys.
