I love it! This was a complete delight! The prompt could have gone in so many directions but you chose one that was so poignant and captured themes of both shows: the legacy of lost girls, the experimentation on women and the possible paranormal circumstances crossed with science. I could see this all unfolding as a case file burdened with personal baggage for Mulder and Scully and them having mixed feelings about Juliet's guilt. (I also imagine at the end of the episode, there would be some strange reveal about Krycek and Mikhail drinking in a bar in Vladivostok.) Also, this was an excellent Scully voice! X-Files was my first fandom and you've made me miss it. And you're right Tania in Malcolm would have made a strong young Samantha!

Thank you for this lovely merging of two worlds. It seems effortless but I imagine it took a lot of planning. Also thanks so much for all your stories this year. I can't wait to see where your muse takes you in 2008.

Thanks for being so kind even while I had the whole thing in italics! Yay competence... anyway, that's fixed now. I'm especially glad the Scully voice worked for you, and will volunteer no information as to what my version of it sounded like when I was about fourteen. I don't think that fic exists anywhere at this point, thank God.

I have to admit, at first I wondered what I was going to do with this prompt. Then I realized that there were an awful lot of possibilities... maybe that's why both shows have appealed to me. Then again, I realize that my fandom interests would suggest that I have a hell of a lot of mommy issues, which isn't really the case. Hmmm.

As was so often the case. ;)

and them having mixed feelings about Juliet's guilt. That's true. My thought process tended to yield an impression that they would have been ( ... )

Oh wow! My X Files memories are kinda rusty right now (and the ones I remember better were the first three and the last two damnit) but this really was great! And very clever. Your Scully has a great voice too. Oh, I loved X-Files...

Memories of the last two seasons? Ouch! 1-5 are the really good ones... Anyway, very happy that this worked for you, especially given my inherent nervousness about crossovers. Oh Scully, how we love thee...

This is such a heartbreaking blend of the two fandoms. Timeline be damned...they fit together seamlessly in the way you wrote this. The crossover doesn't feel at all forced, but rather comes across as perfectly natural. It's interesting to see Scully's perspective from the periphery the case - and yet we know how her circumstances pull her in so much more. Well done!

The two fandoms do contain their share of heartbreak. And timeline be damned indeed - Chris Carter never kept track of it! Seriously, I'm incredibly flattered that this seems natural, and that it works for you. Many thanks for your encouragement.

Argh - I am massively late thanking you for your kind words! I'm very glad to hear you enjoyed it - it was a lot of fun to write.

Scully, so fragile and strong and above self-denial
I really love that aspect of Scully's character, especially in S4-5. Gillian Anderson earned her Emmy a thousand times over.

She seems to have gone through an epiphany, but somehow not definitive.
I can't tell you how flattered I am to hear that take on it, because it's always been by take on S5 canon!Scully. I am blushing really hard right now.

So many thanks!
