I know, I said I wouldn't post this update for a while because my internet is busted. It's still busted, but I've been sitting on these pictures for a bit and I WANT TO SHARE THEM WITH THE WORRRRRLLLLDDDD. I can't fix any coding problems until my 'net is back though, so fingers crossed that it all works just fine!
Plus, it means that instead of spending tomorrow trying to decide if I should write or put up a post, I'll only have the one option: write! It's a cunnning plan.
So, Omega 2, also known as Ivy's household. Last week she went to Twikkii Island, came home with a horrible tan (THAT TAN. THAT BLOODY TAN.), had a brief housemate/lover in the form of Brandon Cwik (who is going to have his own household at the end of this rotation!), and booked a new holiday. The destination?
Takemizu Village!
This is probably my favourite holiday destination, which can be attributed to a few things. For one, I live in Australia. It's totally normal to holiday in Asia, it's hell of a lot easier to travel to than the western half of the continent. I've been to a few places in SE Asia (Thailand and Malaysia and a bit of Myanmar), I've grown up with the cuisine, it's just... quite normal. It's my favourite place to travel, and all that jazz.
From memory, Takemizu Village is also the first destination that I took sims to. All around, it's pretty awesome. I tend to find that Three Lakes has the easiest memories to achieve, whilst Twikkii Island takes the longest. Takemizu has some of the more challenging, particularly where that ninja is concerned. 8|
I decided to give Ivy an open-ended holiday - I booked her for 5 days and 4 nights, so that she could be sent back home when the job was done, rather than trying to cram everything into three days, or some such. So! Off she went!
Ivy is staying at the Steaming Dragon Hotel in Takemizu Village. It's much lower budget than the last place she stayed on Twikkii Island, but sims only come to these places for sleep, so I didn't see the point in spending more money than necessary.
Once her room was booked, Ivy went on a river boat tour. I did one of these once, it was awesome. We went along the Irrawaddy River (Borneo Island), saw the Irrawaddy dolphins, wild monkeys, fascinating insect life... then got caught in a coastal storm on the way back up the river. It was only a little run-about, the kind that we call a "tinny" here. It had very little shelter, lol. I don't get that wet in the shower. XD
Anyway. Ivy's chance card didn't turn out too well, poor dear.
Not to be put off, she headed off on another tour almost immediately. This one was Historic walking, and she found a map along the way, which pointed to a secret place.
By sheer fluke he started doing Tai Chi while she was there, so Ivy got to learn that, too. I'm not convinced that it's a good idea... the last sim who learned that started an epidemic. I'd be playing other households, and that sim would turn up on community lots. They'd start doing Tai Chi autonomously, so townies learned it. Then those townies would turn up on lots and do the same thing. NEVER ENDING, OMG.
With her experience at the Pagoda fresh in her mind, Ivy headed to the Tea Gardens for some dinner and meditation.
I would totally rope this townie in... if he didn't have the same eyes as Jemima Patchwork had. :C
Whilst I remembered that meditating for long enough would allow a sim to teleport across the lot, I totally forgot that it happens anyway, as though it was a weird side-effect.
Since meditation freezes their stats, I sent her on the Bamboo Forest tour to help drain those motives a bit.
It didn't really do much... so I figured I may as well keep her up all night, and Ivy went to the Hot Springs. I was looking for the ninja.
Bingo, baby!
Ivy went to talk to him immediately. Unfortunately, the terrain was not flat there and resulted in chronic route failure for both of them, until he teleported away. SIGH.
Not to worry, there're more to the Hot Springs than a ninja!
After a while Ivy headed over to the Lucky Shrine Park ... and got there just in time to see the ninja disappear.
FRAMMIT.
Nothing happened. :C I wanted some kind of reaction, so Ivy went back to the Hot Springs, then returned to the Park. It triggered this:
I think this makes Ivy 156789532 times more badass than she was previously. :D
Her turn at the shrine was also successful in producing a response!
It granted her a thousand simoleons, which I thought was rather kind. Ivy then went and played some Mahjong.
Look at Blondie's face. Look. He has the Bon Voyage beard and eyebrows. Oh, and A MULLET. What is that.
By this point, the last memory that Ivy needed specific to Takemizu was learning the local gesture - the bow. I filled in the time with menial tasks and tours.
Bit of a mistake... the tour had a capsized boat, meaning that Ivy came back with red fun, hygiene and comfort, not to mention a severely reduced hunger. :C Fortunately, most of those things can be taken care of without having to go back to the hotel. 8D So, that's what happened!
I love that Ivy caused an evacuation of the bathroom at the Hot Springs.
One last meal, and then Ivy headed back to the Hotel... which she never stayed at... (my bad!) and packed her things to go home.
That's her "souvenir outfit", just like the pirate shirt from Twikkii, but I don't like it much at all. It just doesn't suit her, not to mention it's quite similar to what her mother wore at the same age, and they're quite different to each other.
Ivy finished her memories quite a bit earlier than I thought, so she headed on home. I don't mind if a sim hangs around and socialises, but there really is not a lot to do unless you do the same things over and over and over... which is terribly boring if it's just the one sim.
Ivy returned to Krow on the morning of Day 4. She promptly moved houses to a nicer place across the road. :D
It's much bigger though still only one bedroom, and on the same small lot. Picking out a colour scheme for the kitchen was a right pain in the ass, and I still don't love it. :C Like her previous home, this house is actually a recycled university rental that I was going to use in the Custom-Uni-That-Wasn't. It should be pretty easy to expand though.
Ivy didn't stay home long. She headed to Patchwork Bakery first, to say hi to some family.
Jupiter isn't moved in anywhere yet, so he isn't contactable. :C Poor guy, out there in limbo.
Also, burglars are strange things.
skitter scurry scuttle. :C
She chilled with Nebula for a while and then dropped by the Grocery, to say hi to Luke. I was kind of sidetracked at this point.
SEE THAT TOWNIE. DO YOU SEE THAT TOWNIE.
Ever since I concluded that Ivy and Brandon weren't going to work, I've had my eye on this guy for Ivy. They have two-bolt chemistry and she met him some time ago. They made friends last week, but I ran out of play time before anything else could be done. SO. THERE HE IS. GO GO GO
Ivy had the Je ne sais quoi reward from her holiday, so wooing him was a cinch. I'm going to wait for it to wear off, though, before committing them... just in case they aren't permanent two-bolters.
This guy is a candidate too, although he might have the same face template (or a very similar one) as Rose... which would be boring.
Again, totally rubbish at genetics but hazarding a guess.
Ivy stopped by the restaurant on the way home for a quick bite, then chatted Damion (bandanna) and Aren (silly name) up on the phone. I didn't take any photos of that, but it wasn't terribly exciting.
Finally, she went to bed for the first time all week.
I'm wondering if Ivy should open up a restaurant. I know it would be really hard, and all that... but her LTW is in the Paranormal Track, which isn't even possible without a University Degree, which she can't get. I think it could be fun, even as an experiment.
With the Rewards expired and Ivy back to her normal chemistry levels, both Damion and Aren remained as two-bolters. So Ivy invited Damion over, to see what he'd be like.
They get along soooo much better than she and Brandon did. They can have a conversation!
I was quite enthralled by this. Ivy and Damion went steady, then he was invited to join the household!
Damion brought $3,098 with him. It turns out that he's a Knowledge sim, which is a bit of a contradiction with Ivy's popularity aspiration. I'm thinking of re-randomising her aspiration actually. He wants to become the Ecological Guru, which could actually happen (needs a Gold Gardening Badge). He was a Resident in the Medical career track but that had to be flushed away - no such things in Krow, not yet! Damion is also armed with 3 cooking, 3 mechanical, 1 charisma, 2 body, 3 logic, 7 creativity and 5 cleaning. He's just as active as Ivy (9 points), but not nearly as neat as her. He's also a bit more playful.
He slotted in a lot more easily than the last guy. I'll try to stop comparing them, honest. XD
I love default replacements. SO MUCH LOVE. I'm also kind of digging the yellow on him, though I'm less pleased with Damion's prosthetic pony-tail that vanishes when he puts his pyjamas on. How silly.
Damion, did you have to? Really? :C You're lucky you guys have a fire alarm.
Not long after the fireman left, Nebula turned up, so he got to stay for lunch. Oh, and Damion got a new hairstyle that's basically his old style sans bandanna. Shorter styles don't seem to work on him.
This is the first time ever that these two have sat and watched TV together. Ivy's only the second sim in Krow to even have one, lol. I should really get an appliance store.
Damion eats like a horse, I swear. He is ALWAYS hungry. He spent the first two days in the house in low yellow/orange/RED hunger because he was never bloody full. 8|
The rest of Day 7 passed quietly: no need for any renovation, so there wasn't any. They generally pottered around, doing things here and there. In the afternoon, the pair headed to the restaurant for an early dinner ----
Where did you come from, Nebula. GO HOME, no-one invited you in. 8|
I always go with "Chef's Choice" when they're at the restaurant. It's easier than picking something out, and the price difference is generally negligible. I was pretty amused that this was the result for Ivy and Damion's dinner:
Clearly, they're going to get along quite well. :P
As for this...
I'm kind of curious. I wonder if this fellow will turn up elsewhere on other lots during the rotation.
Damion and Ivy went home, pretty tired but not too worn out for some quality time together.
I guess we'll see what next week brings for them. :D
Stats: Krow - Week 9
7 Households: Cwik, Confetti, Hark, Omega, Omega 2, Patchwork and Torrisi.
6 Household Businesses: Omega Bar, Patchwork Patterns, Jackalope Grocery, Rotor (an electronic toy store), Patchwork Bakery and a bookstore.
7 Community lots: 6 Businesses, 1 Public - "Little Red Restaurant"
11 Job slots: Architecture, Athletic (occupied), Business x 5 (1 occupied), Culinary (occupied), Law Enforcement x 2 (2 occupied), Slacker (occupied).
University Fund: $20,336. (18,477 + 1,858)
Damion moving in makes it 29 Playables. With a multiplier of 3, the total population is 87.
After this is the
Patchwork house, hurrah! :D I've been looking forward to them for ages.
