My Very Stubborn Two Year old

Both my girls were babywise baby's and have both done very well with schedules up until now. My two year old is very independent and has refused to take naps, this is okay by me we've just worked a new schedule to an earlier bedtime and she goes down like an angel (as long as the light is on) however her lack of wanting to take naps has made my one ( Read more... )

So what does the 15 month old do? Does she just scream and cry through the whole nap? Is she in a crib or a bed? Do they share a room? I don't really know the circumstances, but my first instinct is to put her down for a nap and don't look back until nap time is over. Even if she cries through the whole thing she will eventually give it up if she realizes you aren't coming back. Also, keep your older one far far away from the bedroom so little one can't hear all the fun she's missing out on. I put my kids to sleep with a loud fan so that can't hear a thing.

Yes she is still in a crib and the girls do share a room. I usually let her cry about an hour before I go get her, I'm wary about letting her cry longer because I live in an apartment and the neighbors have complained to the landlord about the crying. And I should also add that she does have a cyst inside her brain that causes her some headaches and that also makes me wary of letting her CIO for to long. I'm hoping that when her next appointment with the neurologist comes up we can discuss the headaches effect on her daytime sleeping schedule but the cyst is in a place that for now is too risky to remove in fear of longterm damage ( ... )

Wow, that definately makes things more difficult. As for the first part, letting her cry about an hour before getting her. Basically, if you always go to her after an hour, she will always cry at least that long because she knows you come after this amount of time. However, issues with apartment dwellers and more importantly, issues with her health definately make this a complicated issue ( ... )
