I've been told by 3 people this week that I'm so "kampante" about my pregnancy... I'm 35 weeks pregnant (40 weeks is full term but in 2 weeks I may be giving birth already if the baby decides to come out early) and I still haven't bought any baby things. I bought a crib/playpen though 2 weeks ago, and my sis-in-law gave me some baby clothes but none of them are for newborns. I need to prepare na daw my going-to-the-hospital bag just in case. Ano baaaaaaa!!! Panic!
So this afternoon I bought a going-home-from-the-hospital outfit for the baby: 2 small tie-side shirts, shorts, 2 pairs of mittens, 2 pairs of booties, and a bonnet. They were all white with light green kerokerokeroppi design - I was trying to veer away from the usual pink for girls. And I'm also thinking, what if the doctor made a mistake reading the ultrasound and my baby's a boy pala? So I chose green, for now. (I know I will eventually comply with my froufrou nature and get pink stuff.) I also bought 1 receiving blanket and 4 Avent newborn bottles (there was a promo: buy 3, get 1 free). For myself I bought a box of breast pads to absorb the milk that will leak - man, those things are expensive! Buti nalang sale yung Avent.
I was pretty happy with my purchases but when I got home, my sis-in-law said I need only 2 newborn bottles instead of 4 (I should have listened to my husband when he said we should get the bigger bottles!). She also said Avent breast pads are one of the most expensive brands and I could buy cheaper ones from Baby & Co. (But only Avent had breast pads at the store that I went to... :-( ) Then I got a call from Dessert Trolley and she said I need more than 1 receiving blankets because what if the baby barfs on it? And I need a few Medium tie-sides just in case the baby is big. I panicked again! I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BABIES!!!
Breathe...
Okay, maybe I can go back to the store tomorrow and exchange the small bottles for the bigger bottles. I just don't know the store's policy on sale items. My sis-in-law will give me her baby's receiving blankets, plus more booties and mittens. Oh, and I need to get newborn diapers too. And a thousand other things... including a yaya!!!
Yes, I'm anxious for the baby to come out... I can't wait to see whom she looks like and to hold her in my arms and stare at her all day when she feeds and sleeps... but I hope she comes out when I'm really, really, really prepared... But is there anyone who's really prepared for first time motherhood?
By the way, ayoko na ng "Tammy" na name. Wala lang. Fickle.
