Mystery 22: Stacey and the Haunted Masquerade

Over in missbscpageant we're in round 4 of the Best Mystery Poll. Currently, Mystery 22 is winning in its match-up. This confuses me no end. I'm not saying the book sucks (far from it), but compared with #21, it's nowhere near as strong. I think what bothers me most about it is that through the whole thing there's this great buildup of tension and excitement, and then when it comes time for the big reveal, it just fizzles. Instead of culminating in a big surprise or truly satisfying moment, the plot just drops the ball. It doesn't get resolved at all.

Meanwhile, in #21 you have a good buildup, interesting action/hijinks, and a believable explanation/ending. In my mind, that's a stronger book.

So why is #22 doing better in the poll?

Just curious...
