(no subject)
Oh wow another character from the BSC has yet again irritated me.
I just finished watching "Claudia and the Stolen Jewelry" (if no one has seen it before then there's spoilers, sorry)
But anyway, I understand Karen's whole M.O. about taking the jewelry to get Kristy's attention and everything. Believe me, I got the jist and the moral and everything else. I also understand that Karen is only 5 or 6.
However I still don't think that's any excuse. I think she got off WAAAAY to easy for that one. I mean she took the jewels when Kristy distinctly asked her not to touch them, and then, when she KNEW the jewels were missing and everyone was going out of their minds, she never said anything except "I wanna show you my tree." Her taking the earrings put a lot at stake like Claudia's deposit and they accused Julie of taking them when she hadnt. So basically Karen's little stunt for attention caused alot of problems. Everyone wants attention but she went too far.
Usually in TV shows where the child does something wrong but has very good intentions (Full House for example) they get the sappy music and the "I love you's" just like in this episode and THEN when the music goes off they get a little punishment kind of as a joke to the audience. Now, I know in BSC Land everything turns out all right but it just annoyed me how Kristy kinda just let it go and Karen got off scot free. I think Karen should have gotten no Sesame Street for a week or something lol. I know if it was me in Kristy's position I would have been FURIOUS just because of all the trouble they had to go through like following Julie.
And on a sidenote, in the Christmas episode when Kristy gave that boy her baseball mitt I almost cried, that was the nicest thing ever and she worked so hard for that mitt. That was one of fave BSC moments.
