Gas prices are scary!

Okay, so I just got another email... about the 20th I've received like it... "Stop buying gas from Exxon/Mobil! It'll force them to lower their prices! Buy from everyone else" Anyone ever heard of "smear campaign?" well... this is similar; the only thing this does is give the business to other companies such as Kwik Fill and Citgo. The real answer is not to displace the money to a smaller company (imagine Kwik Fill getting as big as or bigger than Mobil... It makes me shiver... and then it would just be the same situation). It is hard, knowing how power-hungry we are, but if Americans as a whole would instead consider reducing the amount of energy they use, no one gasoline provider would benefit any more than the others; they would equally be hurt by the reduction of fuel usage. I'm doing something about it: moving back into the city so I can be nearer to work and school so I spend less time driving, less money on gas, and can bike instead of drive more often. Give me your suggestions: what are some oher things we can do to reduce the amount of energy we use?
