I love BabyCenter.com

Yep - I admit it. I'm obsessed with the February 05 Baby Center community. I didn't realize it until suddenly it dawned on me that I was spending almost all of my online time in the forum. I found out about the site back when I was pregnant with Michael, and found it to be a priceless resource of information and advice. Thankfully the ladies that I chatted with then have hung in there even now when most of them are having another baby this fall and will undoubtedly be moving on to the November 06 board. They're amazing ladies - I'm so grateful for all the help they've so happily given over the last (almost) two years. They're awesome!

They have really been great about giving out recipes. In fact, we have a site entitled "Culinary Ladies with February Babies" in which we swap recipes and toddler snack ideas. It's really great. At any rate, they had a recent recipe that totally grossed me out. "Veggie Pancakes." I thought, who in the world would actually make those and give them to their baby? Ewe. Well, turns out, everyone on the board turned around and made them and their kids are devouring them in mass quantity. (Mikey's at an age where he's suddenly very picky and will literally flick food off of his tray all over the floor if he's not into it.) I thought I'd give these things a try since my freezer is full of good veggies and I'm dedicated to feeding Mikey only healthy foods. After it was too late, I realized I didn't have any eggs in the house and had to make biscuits. Did I mention that Bisquick makes awesome Reduced Fat mix? Yep! It's really good. So anyway, I thought veggie biscuits sounded really awful. So I chopped up some roma tomatoes, added some spinach, oregano, and a little parmesean cheese (all mixed up with the Bisquick and soy milk, btw) and baked 'em on up. Let me tell you what. My house smells so good right now. I was surprised to find that, after having tried one myself, they're delicious. Do you know how exciting this is? The opportunities are endless. HAHA! The veggies that Mikey can't pick up well (like tomatoes and spinach) have met their match.

After reading that over, I momentarily thought I was a total dork. But hey, that's not true. Well, I am a dork, but just not right now. Right now, I'm a Mom. :) I love that!

At any rate, you probably came here for a Mikey update. I aim to please! He's doing fabulously. The boy is so wonderful! He celebrated his first birthday on February 17th and had a total blast. (He had two birthday parties!! He must be special or something.) He's starting to really talk and points at everything he can see. His generic name for everything he doesn't know yet is "Bah." But he has a few words that he loves to say. Like mama, dada, balloon, ball, bye, hi, and more (pronounced "mow"). He's a stair climber, a cruiser, a great sleeper, a Little Einsteins fan, and a snuggle bug. At his 12 month well-child appointment he weighed in at 26 pounds, 4 ounces. He's almost 30 inches tall. All in all, he's 90th percentile and steadily growing. His favorite thing to eat are bananas. Although he loves pasta, broccoli, peas, carrots, greenbeans (again... he really hated them for a while), chicken, and of course animal crackers. He's so close to walking but just doesn't feel like doing it yet. He'll be running around soon enough! Did I mention that he's wonderful? Because he totally is. My best little buddy ever.

We're off to go shopping in a little bit, after he has his Veggie Biscuit lunch. :) Hope you all are doing well and that you're getting out in this beautiful spring weather!

All of our love,
Rebekah, Mike and Mikey B.
