Ryan's latest:
- "Where'd it go?" with his hands up. It comes out more like a babble with "go" at the end but you get exactly what he means by it. Earlier today, I was eating his "crackas" (crackers) and he wasn't paying attention. I ended up eating all but three of them. He came over, picked up the three remaining crackers, paused and then did the "blah-blah go?" and looked at me. I just said, "I was hoping you weren't going to notice. Mommy ate them." It's so funny that he asked me what happened to them. I, of course, got him more.
- Climbing on the Kangeroo Climber (a little plastic playhouse with a slide, climbing areas, and a half-door) in the backyard that Gramma got for him. He likes to say, "bubye!," blow kisses, and then close the little half-door behind him. The first day we put it up, he figured out how to climb up onto the half-shelf and slide down the slide. He also figured out how to climb up the outside. It was money well-spent.
- Ryan knows "nose" "mouth" "eyes" "ears" "head" "hair" "hand" "finger" "belly" "bellybutton" "foot" "other foot" and "toes." We're working on "arm" "leg" "shoulders" and "knees."
- He watches Yo Gabba Gabba practically every day. If we're outside, I only have to say, "Yo Gabba Gabba time!" to get him to come inside without a fight. I think he loves it because of all the music and dancing and singing. No matter what the topic for the day is, he gives his complete attention to the show for the full 20-25 minutes.
- The only other program he gives long amounts of attention to is the movie Cars. He's quite obsessed with cars, actually. It's the first thing he says when he wakes up (literally). He always points them out. He has a bunch of mini Tonka cars and Matchbox cars but his favorite is definitely the Lightning McQueen car that Gramma bought for him. He carries them around most of the day and plays with them.
- He just moved up to Level 4 (16 months - 22 months) at Gymboree and he LOVES it. I wish I'd moved him up sooner. He's a lot more interactive with the other kids in his class and follows what they're doing. He actually sits in my lap for lap time and interacts with the teacher during "Where's Little Gymbo" time. Last week we were working on opposites - "Top" and "Bottom" He now knows where the top of his head is and the bottom of his feet. I think we're really going to like this new level.
- I could write all day but I'll wrap it up with this: he turned 18 months old on Wednesday. It's really cool that he's becoming such a little boy but it's sorta sad too. Our little Ry isn't so little anymore. Still, though, to quote Chris (Daddy), "Our boy is awesome!" :)
Yo Gabba Gabba's over. Time to go outside!
