[ ota; mtw; the church crypt ] the woman loves a good tomb

Truth be told, River hadn't meant to keep a low profile during the time she'd been here. She detested the very idea, preferring to be in the thick of things where she felt comfortable. So instead of wandering unarmed into dangerous situations she'd busied herself with the one subject she'd found as a comfort in strange situations - archeology. There were more than a few places that sparked her interest that she'd heard of - an arch deep in the forest and tales of a castle, but for starters she'd explore something much closer to her current base of operations. The crumbling ruins of the church offered her a nearly hidden door and the promise of something behind it. And River could never resist a closed door.

Armed with a pen, flashlight, her diary, enough food to keep her going for a few days, and reluctantly her communicator in the event that she might find herself in enough trouble to require a call for help, River makes her way towards the church. It was a pity that something had destroyed it long before she'd gotten a better look at the stylization. Evidence pointed towards it mimicking classic Earth designs but that wasn't sufficient enough of a conclusion to satisfy her. If only the celling hadn't caved in, though she can't complain too much with the light it gives for the majority of her walk.

River barely pauses once she hits the dark shade near the end of the church, reaching into one of her camo pockets to pull out the flashlight. Once on, it takes her a few minutes to identify the oddly cut stone against the more regularly constructed back wall and, more importantly, the strange groove that she figured must be the handle.

"This is much more like it."
