A witches job: helping when life is on the edge [OTA, multiples welcome, wibble-time to post-return]

The barracks is not quite the steading she knew, but Tiffany knows that there is nothing a witch can do but tend to the people about her. There is nothing else to be done beyond take account, make lists, listen when people think you're not, collect gossip, and do your job. A witch's job was to watch over and guard her steading, and for the moment, with no other witch in sight, the Barracks became her steading for the nonce. It was what it was, and she'd be a poor witch if she didn't step up to the challenge.

So Tiffany set out to work. She had a great talent for becoming invisible when she worked (the better to eavesdrop), and better yet, she needed work to DO; there were no cows or goats, so no cheese, but there were things to be mended and the barrack's library was in a state that could be called a sin in some places. She's quite sure that Granny could have glared the books into mending themselves at this point, but she was no such witch -- and so instead she went about trying to repair, organize and gather things there for the moment, attempting to glean what she could from the ravaged pages and their missing endings.

Finding blank parchment and pen, she also wrote logical notes and placed them at the end of each book as she skimmed it's contents. Boy likely wins girl, lives happily ever after in one tattered romance, while, I imagine the butler did not in fact do it. It's probably the ex-wife. went in another.

Even if they couldn't have endings, they could have guesses, maybe. It'd have to be enough for now.

[You may assume that Tiffany has been seen, been about the barracks, but as witches are prone to do, keep themselves one step apart from their steading - with them, but not 'of' them as a religious figure or wise woman might do. This doesn't mean she's not unfriendly or unapproachable, just a touch distant, and working very adamantly at upkeep, currently struggling through the library.]
