Waking up in the Woods for the first time is never a pleasant experience, but this time may be just a bit more unpleasant than most. The tangled branches overhead block out the sky, and most of the light - it could be midnight or high noon, but this part of the wood doesn't seem like it would notice the difference either way. It's bitterly cold

He's close enough to catch her call for what he assumes to be her father and there's a moment where it strikes a bit too close to home but that's gone as quickly as it came - there's nothing he can do about it. Not back there on the Grid and not... wherever they were here.
"Pretty sure he's not here," is the only thing he can offer, with a shrug as he moves closer to her.

She takes in his outfit and how it glows, and his appearance causes one of her eyebrows to arch. She considers questioning if he was at a rave or some kind of crazy parade, but since she's looking for help and some answers, she bites her tongue and lets the right corner of her mouth tug upward into a smirk instead.
"I'm taking it you're just as lost as I am."

She doesn't seem dangerous - and not like any program he's come across which only furthers his conclusion that he's made it back to his world. But then why does his disc work? He wasn't going to question it at the moment, not until he's found out more.
Letting the disc edge fade, he shrugs, casting an eye out into the forest; ever since waking up he couldn't seem to shake the idea that something was watching them.

So she rubs her hands up and down her arms and forces a shiver, as she takes a step back to stand closer to the light up guy. He seems decent enough. And he's cute, that's always a bonus.
"I'm Claire, by the way. Claire Bennet. You weren't in Texas before showing up here, were you?"

"California, actually. Or at least I was supposed to end up there. And it's Sam Flynn." He gives her a grin by way of introduction, glad that at least wherever they are no one's going to give him a look after he introduces himself. It's a nice change, what can he say.

"Maybe we should walk around, see if we can find a clearing or something. If we can get to a place where we can see the sky, it'd be pretty helpful...somehow."
She shifts her weight to rest on her right leg, and sticks out her hip. She thinks it over for a few seconds before turning on her heel and stalking off in the opposite direction.

"And what do you plan on doing so whatever is hanging out in the trees doesn't eat you alive?" Not that he has a problem with actually going out into the trees, just that hey - it's a viable question. Out of reflex he activates the disc in his hand and grabs his own from his back, letting that one whirr into life as well. If Rinzler can use two of them, so can he.

His question gets her to hesitate and pause. She isn't particularly afraid of what's out there that can try to eat her, she's more afraid of this guy and anyone else seeing what a freak she is. Although she's guessing a guy that has a light up outfit and light up -
Wait.
"What are those things, anyway?" She's curious as she turns to face him, her interest in his weapons momentarily winning out over her desire to get the hell out of there.

He's not quite sure how he manages it, but after a second a 3D rendering of his head appears above it, made of glowing white light. Sam can't help the small smile that his slight success brings - he'll have to remember to dig through the code later.

"What part of California are you from?"
She pauses, swallowing a little. "And do you really think there are things out there that would actually try and eat us?" He's joking about that, right?

At her question he let the image fade, turning to look out into the shadows. "Do you really want to take your chances if there is?" Sam isn't sure about it either way, but he's willing to put money on it not being anything good.

She isn't all that impressed, because it sounds a little too internet driven for her liking. "The Grid isn't some kind of code for World of Warcraft, is it? Because that game is entirely lame and you look too old and decent looking to play it."
She stares up at him in a mixture of horror and awkwardness, before shaking off the fact she could be standing next to some kind of Level 100 Rainbow Light Up Orc or something, and fixates on looking out at the trees. She shifts and places her hands on her waist, as if she's in charge of this little escape mission. In her head, she is in charge, so it works perfectly for her.
"I don't really care about my chances. The odds are likely I'll be fine. It's more or less you I'm worried about."
She points at where she thinks she sees a clearing. "We can try to squeeze through."

"The Grid is... different. Put lightly, it's a digital world that's absolutely nothing like WoW. It's entirely made up of code without a graphics interface." At least until one managed to get inside of it, but that was neither here nor there.
He also can't help the eyebrow raise at her own confidence but he wasn't going to question her on it - if she said she was capable then fine, she was. "I'll be fine, these things double as weapons." So saying, he moves towards the clearing she's pointed out, trusting her to follow him.

"Hey, do you have one of these things too? Because they would have had to implant these things on us. My phone isn't anything like this. It's a lot more...pink." She blushes a little as she admits that, feeling very much like a stupid and shallow little kid at the admission.
"We should try calling out on this, shouldn't we?"

Reaching back, his fingers brush something hard and metallic - definitely not something he remembers having on the Grid. Sam pulls at it, finding an identical device to the one Claire has.
"See if anyone is out there? Might as well."
