You know who this is for :3 ... hint, it's not for Damon keep him away >:CalwaysthesaviorSeptember 20 2010, 00:31:51 UTC
Peter isn't sure what this place is, or why he's suddenly here, instead of where he was before, which was not a good place at all but still, he shouldn't have been able to just randomly disappear from one place and appear in another. Oh well, whatever happened to make this possible, it's done, and since he's gone through the trouble of getting out of the nice cool stream that was really helping with all the minor burns he's gotten from the killer acidic stream mud, he might as well explore this new place, because it couldn't hurt. Well, except for the fact that it does hurt a lot of the time, especially for Peter, and especially in this wood, but that doesn't stop him from opening the gates to see what's inside the barracks.
So he looks around, pretty much expecting an empty space, but instead finds what pretty much makes up a town. There's a store, a pub, a lot of cabins and... "Claire?"
BUT PETER, DAMON TTLY LOVES YOU. :33 He promises you'll like it.autophoenixSeptember 20 2010, 00:43:32 UTC
It was, quite possibly, the last voice she'd expected to hear from behind when she had started to stomp off in an effort to get some alone space, but it worked better than anything else might have to stop Claire dead in her tracks. Her heart jumped up in her chest, but she was afraid to hope. Slowly, she turned around to face the source of the noise and relief washed over her in a cool wave. All hesitance forgotten, she ran straight for him, throwing her arms around his neck and burying her face against it, not seeming all too concerned with why he was drenched. For the moment, at least

He hadn't been entirely sure that it was her at first--he just assumes that every short blond in the whole world is Claire and calls her name at them, so when she turns and it really is her, and not some stranger that's going to make his life feel awkward, he's relieved. Not that he really wants her to be here--this is a terrible place for Claire to be--but he's glad that he was able to find her at least.
He groans in pain a little bit when she touches his irritated skin with her attack hug, but hugs her back anyway, though he misses most of what she says due to the feeling of her arms rubbing off little bits of his burns. He's extremely grateful when she pulls away so he can concentrate on the conversation again, except that he still has no idea what she's saying. "Claire, it's okay, it's okay. Animals? What?" He sighs. "Could you start over?"

Taking note of the grimace, she began to study him as she pulled away, scrutinizing the wear and tear on his body. She, more delicately than her hug had been, placed a hand on some of the less serious burns and frowned, lips pursed tersely as she tried to fixate on answering his questions before she started to pelt him with her own.
"The ones who were trying to sell us, you didn't run into them?" Okay, that was quite possibly even more confusing, and it showed in the way her eyebrows knitted together. "They were huge, they looked like -- and they tied us up with ropes. I think they must have drugged them or something, too, because it --" Her explanation slowed and she chewed the inside of her lip, trying to come up with an explanation for why he could possibly not know.
"You really didn't see them. Peter, where were you before now? What happened to you? Look, just -- take my ability, and we'll find some place to sit and talk and work through all of what happened, okay?"
Claire's long-winded explanation is somehow even more hard to follow the second time around, if that was even possible, even though her light touch is just barely irritating his skin this time. So basically all he catches was the first part, and then a few things about Claire being tied up, and normally he would just let it go and make a blanket statement about how he'd protect her from whatever was after her, but this actually sounds really... odd, and he should probably make sure he's hearing her right. "They what? Tried to sell you?"
He frowns when she suggests that he take her ability--how could she forget his predicament? Sure, he would absolutely love having her ability right now, but that didn't mean that he would ever be able to have it again, so her rubbing it in his face out of nowhere made him feel even worse than before. "I can't... What're you even talking about--I don't have an ability anymore, Claire, you know that. But yeah, you know what, let's just... go sit down

Yeah, fat chance on Peter's story making more sense. When he launched into an explanation about the lake attacking him, Claire just wrinkled her brow further in confusion, shaking her head. That wasn't even possible, was it? Then again, an hour or two ago she wouldn't have said that walking, talking forest creatures were possible either, and yet they'd very nearly stolen her away to become their freaky slave girl. She shuddered at the memory of how compliant those ropes had made her become and forced herself to move on and ignore the issue in favor of addressing what was going on with Peter

When Claire mentions him 'getting out of Pinehearst' he stares at her incredulously for a few moments. "I haven't even been to Pinehearst yet, Claire. I was about to go, and then..." There's something very wrong with the picture being painted here--he just can't quite understand what it is yet. Did he go to Pinehearst? No, unless the Haitian knocked it out of his head or something. Wait, didn't Claire just go on a trip to the past with Hiro? It would be so great if he were here too. "Did Hiro bring you here?"
Once she starts talking about his burns, he misses her tone entirely and answers the lake question seriously. "No, this would just be the mud around the lake--if I'd actually touched the water, I'd be dead." At the thought of going to the doctor and getting them looked at though, he just starts feeling tired and doesn't want to get up anymore. "I'm okay though, I'll just... swim around..." This might not make any sense, but he's not making any sense to himself either, so that's okay. His medical knowledge is telling him that he

Fuck the Haitian and everything he touched. After dealing with her mother and her brother and Zach forgetting things to such an extent, she would have hoped that Rene would have had the presence of mind to keep his hands off Peter, but no. No such luck. Claire felt her heart sink in her chest as she realized Peter didn't remember what had happened once he'd reached Pinehearst. It meant he was still on a mission that was too terrible for him to bear. One he didn't deserve to have to be put on. She had enough sense of compassion, though, to not try to keep him awake by demanding more details out of him.
"Peter, you're not swimming in an acid lake, you need to rest. Come on," standing, she tried to help him off the bench without being too hard on his wounds. "There's gotta be some place in town you can lie down and rest. We'll figure this out, okay? You got back from Pinehearst weeks ago, though, I just don't understand why Rene would …" But, she did understand. It had to be some kind of orders from Angela, and she had

As much as he'd like to stay firmly in one spot, Peter knew that if he stayed any longer, he'd be in danger of falling asleep right there and who knew what kind of weird creatures roamed around at night in this place. So when Claire made an attempt to get him up off the bench, he didn't put up much of a fight. After all, a bed sounded like a much nicer place to sleep than the forest floor had been. As soon as she stood him up he gently put an arm around her shoulder--not wanting to put much weight on her, but not really wanting to fall over either. It's a companionable gesture, also, because he really was glad to see her, even though the circumstances weren't the best.
Claire's words filtered in enough that he understood what she was talking about this time... Kind of. "I got back weeks ago?" That didn't make sense for a lot of different reasons... ones that he would undoubtedly think of later--he limited himself at that particular moment to putting one foot in front of the other while hoping that he didn't look like he was leaning

For all five dollars in change she had to her height, she did a pretty good job helping Peter walk in the direction of some of the more promising buildings. There was something to be said for the strength that one built up through cheerleading after all, she supposed

He just let her lead, not really paying attention to where they were headed to. Luckily for both of them, he wasn't exactly the tallest person either, and pretty light to boot from all those meals that he'd skipped and all the extra running around that kept his metabolism at his teenage level. Peter hoped that Claire didn't mind how she was getting soaked though--he really should've asked Lily to do that drying spell on him too. But oh well, it's not like he can go back in time for a redo... unless he can and he just doesn't know about it because he has no memory of having Hiro's ability--if Claire was right, then he might just have to re-discover all the abilities he got back when he did whatever he did at Pinehearst, which should be easy considering that he actually remembers what it feels like to have them, this time.
"I think me not liking the reasons a given, Claire, since it's my memories being stolen that we're talking about here." After a few seconds of pause, he added, "Again". He wondered for a moment after he said that, if

When Peter mentioned Harry Potter, Claire quickly determined that his burns had come with a side of delirium. Whatever was in that lake water had gotten into his system and he was probably feverish, though she wasn't about to grope him to find out while she was trying to help him stumble in the direction of what appeared to be cabins. It was better to just dismiss the comment than try to figure out what he was talking about, or what Harry Potter could possibly mean in this context. Given the talking animals, maybe he'd run into a witch, too? That was a scary thought
