Ever since she had learned about the power of magical teleportation called Apparition, Lute had become obsessed - mostly because if magical non-prodigies (with red hair! Nasty common color, red.) could handle it, she would never be able to live with herself. Never mind that other worlds might have different systems of magic ( Read more... )

George had almost forgotten about instructing Lute on Apparition - he'd been far too distracted with the fact that his twin had also managed to make it to the Woods to give Lute much more than a passing thought. And since he'd heard nothing more about it from her, it faded back into the recesses of his mind in order for monsters and finicky magic to take precedence.

Unfortunately it came crashing back with the tell-tale crack and, more importantly, the scream. George broke off in the middle of a sentence, gave his twin a look that simply says follow me before taking off running in the direction of the sound.

Normally there's be a moment of hesitation, a questioning look, but this time he feels partially responsible for what he fears might have occurred. If she had gone and splinched herself he should, at the very least, try and fix the damage.

If it was something they could fix.

[ tagging order for the most part will be George <-> Fred -> Lute, if that's okay with all parties? ]

The moment his twin took off, Fred followed. He'd heard the crack, too, of course, and it sounded like Apparition. But he didn't think anyone else but he and George could do it here. The scream, however, wasn't really a good sign either, so Fred made no objections to the silent order.

Trailing the sound, both of them quickly found the origin, and Fred wasn't all that concerned about knocking; he shoved open the door and stumbled inside. The girl he spotted wasn't a familiar person to him in the slightest, and even if she were a witch, he rather thinks he'd be aware of another magical person like them here. "Oi, you all right?"

Somehow--somehow she'd gone from...she'd gone from one side of the room to the circle. As soon as she'd landed, stumbling forward and almost crashing over the chairs, Lute knew that she ought to be crowing her success from one side of the barracks to the other, but then she'd gotten a look at her hand, seen the blood dripping down two fingers, and completely lost it. Never, in all her years, had she ever caused herself actual pain experimenting with magic, so this? This was catastrophic.

She jumped as the door to her room banged open and fell back into the chair, knees still shaking, her right hand clenching the index and middle fingers of her left. "What--what does it look like," Lute asked defensively, her right hand, palm smeared with blood, coming up to shakily push a lock of hair back behind her ear as she stared down the twins.

Squinting a bit at her wounds, he draws in a sharp breath. Definitely splinched. Although it could have been so much worse--all her limbs are attached. Always a good sign!

"Looks like you might be bleeding," he replied, a bit shortly, glancing at George; he might know her, so it'd probably be for the best if his twin took the lead here, especially since she certainly looked distraught; and while he did indeed share the face of his twin, it didn't make he and the girl any less strangers. And if George didn't know her--well, he'd probably be better at handling it initially anyway.
