Jack felt like he was waking up from falling off of a large building and dying. He was aching, which he supposed was something left over from is recent death that he remembered. He shifted to his elbows and took several moments before got to his legs. He checked himself, patting his body down. There was no sign of injury, and there wasn't even a ( Read more... )

Dante came sauntering by with a calm nonchalance as if young men carrying the log of a small tree over one shoulder while dressed in nothing but brown leather pants and unlaced boots, was entirely normal. During some kind of winter season. Welcome to crazyforest, Jack.

He offered the stranger a lazy salute.

"'Sup, dude. New? Only populated camp in the area that way, woods with monsters that way." He summarized and pointed at the silhouette of the barracks through the trees and back at the darker woods where from he came, respectively. And continued walking towards said camp.

Jack simply raised an eyebrow and watched where this stranger pointed out. "Camp sounds promising," he said. At least better than wherever he ended up. Jack could handle a camp. That meant there were people.

"Yes, new," Jack said without a second thought. He caught his words, "Wait -- new? To where?" That really was the all important question of the day for him. He had to find out where he was and what was going on. And then he wondered if everyone else was dragged here in the same manner he was.

"Fairy tale forest from hell." He replied in the same tone as if explaining the weather, and continued walking. "Likes to kidnap people from anywhere for fuck knows why. I suppose a congrats and a welcome to the involuntarily camp school of magic forest survival is in order."

He contemplated cracking a joke about the Bermuda triangle but as there was no knowing if this new guy even knew what Bermuda was, he supposed it'd be useless. At least Bermuda was supposed to have better weather, though. Damn forest.

"Please don't tell me there is ...faeries here." Jack mentally cursed at the thought. Every time with the faeries. He couldn't really ever escape them. He amused himself in that this was his only real concern. Survival wasn't an issue for him (as far as he could tell), but he knew faeries could make someone's life a complete hell.

That made him stop and glance over his shoulder (the one without a tree on it). "Oh-ho, new guy's not new to the concept? Oh yeah, fairies. Big ones, small ones, royal ones, weird ones, a few hot chicks.. and a bunch of talking animals."

He laughed and waved his free arm in a shrug. "It's a regular wonderland!" That wasn't sarcasm or anything, no--or yes it was. A pause, and he looked at Jack. "So, what's your name new guy?"

"Jack," he offered, and moved to step up to stand just a few feet to the side of Dante. He figured it was rude (even in his time) to stand behind someone and talk to them.

He chuckled. "And this new guy is definitely not new to the entire thing." He shrugged. "Faeries, hot chicks, or talking animals." Jack didn't have a solid memory of talking animals, but some of the aliens he had met might as well have been.

"Dante." he replied and pointed at himself. Jack's laid back response to the whole ordeal was amusing though, and he too laughed. "Yeah? Aren't you lucky to get more of it then, huh."

He pointed at the barracks again and started walking. "Not much to say 'bout this place. No one's found a solid way out yet and the housing sucks."

"If you consider it lucky," Jack said. He rolled his eyes and kept in beat with Dante's pace. "Nice to meet you, though." Jack took on a pleasant tone as he walked. No need to sound upset or depressed, though he easily could have.

"I'm not a huge fan of camping, and I'm guessing this isn't much better"
