First, she blinked. Then, she pinched herself. Finally, she simply stared upward at the unfamiliar canopy looking down upon her.

"...splendid!" Lute shaded her eyes with a hand and laughed aloud. Splendid? More like...like...marvelous! Unheard of! No one had ever thrust themselves through a cosmic wormhole - at least, no one who'd ever bothered to write a book about it. (And why wouldn't a dimension traveler write a book about his experiences? Hogging the experience to oneself was just selfish...) She was the first, her, genius her, a child of magic, and now, a child of sheer, utter magnificence.

She leaped to her feet and dusted herself off, carefully smoothing out the hem of her dress - there were going to be a few mud stains and the like in the back, but those were easily washed out - and adjusting her necklace so it faced the proper direction. Never let it be said that explorers went out not looking their best.

"Artur?" It was habit, calling out tentatively for her best friend and watching him suddenly appear and tell her to stop running off and shouldn't she be back in the village, safe where she belonged? But nothing happened; her voice simply echoed through the trees which suddenly looked just a tad foreboding...

No. That would not be. This was the experience of a lifetime, and she would not spend it, however long she had, quaking and quivering in a forest clearing waiting for Artur to find her. No, she would prove them all wrong: she was more than capable of handling herself out there in the wide, wide world. After all, she was a genius.
