She had been working for a while on doing her part to be useful around the barracks. For the past few weeks she had been repairing empty cabins as best as possible, and she had found a nice mixture of mud and leaves that patched up holes well enough and also found coverings to keep the cold air out of broken windows. She had even created a makeshift broom and had managed to clean some of the dirt and dust off of the floors, and out of the giant pile of firewood she had collected over the past month, a decent sized stack was sitting in the center of the floor. It wasn't much, but she felt it was enough to make a new arrival feel a little more safe and at home. And really, it was all she could do, given the circumstances and lack of supplies.
She still had a large handful of cabin repairs to go, but she forced herself to take a day off from focusing on that project as well as collecting what supplies she could, and instead focused on bundling up piles of firewood and dishing out some of her attempts to make jerky to the people who were already trapped with her.
It was probably better to focus on the people who were already around, instead of just waiting for new people to drop in. And it gave her something different to do, and it would provide her with some opportunities to talk with people who weren't hunters. As much as she loved her extended family here, they drove her crazy a lot of the time. Plus, it would also provide her with some quality questioning time to try and get some leads on any new crazy things going on. She'd solve the situation herself, and rub it in Dean's face that she was more proactive than him. It was a win-win situation, really.
So after gathering the goodies that she had prepared, she set out to knock on the door of every cabin she knew to be occupied. Anyone who wasn't home got their gifts set out on the porch, but anyone who did answer the door would get a confident Jo making her way into their cabin.
