Castiel was probably dead.
That much he wasn't going to inform Dean of, but Anna would probably tell him eventually. In the meantime, he had no intention of waiting around until she tracked him down and demanded they figure out a plan of action together. Two angels might have been better than one, but even with everything he'd promised Anna, he needed to go alone. He lost one sibling, already, and if he lost her, then he'd be alone again and no better off than he was during the war. He told himself that he'd look after those crazy kids.
Of course, if he hadn't been stupid and if he hadn't shut himself down for a week, because of that stupidity, none of this probably would've happened.
So now he was just going to be stupid again. But at least he wasn't going alone... If one human and her magic sword counted as back-up in angel terms. It was a long short and a horrible risk for both of them, but he didn't have a lot of options and if that Kitsune bitch was responsible for Castiel being gone, then he was going to make her pay.
If anyone should understand that, it's Murphy. He felt her unleashing the power of that holy sword on the cornfield and he had a good idea why. It had felt like one of his brothers on a warpath, an archangel's power, used as it should, rather than how they all ended up using it. Hell, it almost terrified him... And if it can scare an archangel, it should be able to kill a Fae.
Which was why he was sprawled underneath the oak tree, glancing up at its branches and wondering if it would give him some sort of sign like it gave Murphy... Or a new sword. That would be nice. Unfortunately, the tree has nothing to say to him.... Although, he has a feeling it's probably judging him... Or possibly that's just residual anxiety left over from thinking about how much Anna would probably make his life hell for this when he got back, especially for not letting her go with him, but he'd burn that bridge when he got there.
