There's a book in the library that wasn't there before, sitting on the table where anyone walking through the door can't help but notice it. It's huge, leatherbound, and - perhaps most importantly - it's completely intact, ending included. It carries with it a feeling of overwhelming forboding and, to anyone with psychic abilities, a vague and malicious sentience.
Given that, it might be wise to back out of the room completely and just leave the book alone, but... it is just a bit tempting to open it up and see what it is, isn't it? Of course, get any closer and you might see that that's not leather it's bound in, it's what looks disturbingly like human skin, and the alien alphabet inside appears to be written in blood. Still, it's just a book. What's the harm in peeking inside?
