When Ianto Jones wakes up, the sight before him was not what he was expecting, and he dislikes that immensely. He's the type of man that counts the minutes it takes him to brush his teeth in the morning and takes the same route to work every day. Working for Torchwood does not involve a routine which is why he finds his so invaluable. At least he can keep the small parts of his life constant because Jack, Weevils, and the Rift are not. Jack likes spontaneity, and although Ianto is adjusting, that little voice inside his head that demands order still balks on an occasion.
What he expected to see was Thames House before him, and Jack's amused grin. He remembers blacking out, and the entire time he was losing consciousness (albeit it was only a few short seconds), he imagined all the ways to avoid Jack teasing him for the next two years about his fainting spell . Unfortunately he didn't manage anything useful before he blacked out.
What he didn't expect is what he sees now. He's surrounded by wood in all directions, decaying, decrepit. He briefly notes that whoever keeps the place up is a shit housekeeper, but then he pushes aside those thoughts for the more pressing ones. How did he arrive here, and who brought him? This isn't the 456's style... they would have just poisoned him and gotten it over with. This is however UNIT's style, and Ianto surprisngly isn't very trusting of the organization right now. They blew up his... they blew up Jack and tried to kill Gwen. That's not something he easily forgives.
He stands up and brushes off his pinstripe trousers, the material covered in a thin layer of dust and dirt. Bloody brilliant. He's now dirty and has no idea where he is. His day can't really get any worse, unless the 456 bursts through the walls wearing party hats. He pauses, hands on his hips, almost expecting it to happen. When it doesn't, much to his relief, he sighs deeply and checks to see what else he's equipped with. His keys, wallet, blue tooth.... everything he had when he left for Thames House is still on his person. He also still has his glocks, which is a relief, because being unarmed in a strange place was not on his to-do list. He's not precisely sure why UNIT would allow him to keep it, but he's not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
He reaches inside his pocket and pulls out an unfamiliar object. He turns it over, recognizing it some sort of weird compass... why would he need one of those? Right, because he's stuck someone unfamiliar and he really needs to be getting back to London. He continues to examine the object as he walks around, taking in the scenery. It's almost like a little town... an abandoned town. Now he just has to figure out who brought him here, and why.
