My captain: icons and brief meta

Commander Jeffrey Sinclair

Sinclair is my captain, because he always has a cool head in time of trouble. Because he quotes Ulysses. Because he lives out the same kind of warrior spirituality as G'Kar or Delenn. Because of his friendship with Garibaldi. Because of his unswerving sense of honour. Because he makes that leap to become Valen. Because of his bravery in the face of torture by the Minbari, and his willingness to work with them afterwards. Because of his work with the Rangers. Because of his relationship with Sakai. Because he's looking for something worth dying for, but finds something worth living for after all.

Captain John Sheridan

Sheridan is my captain, because he won't give up when it matters. Because of his relationship with Delenn. Because of his relationship with Ivanova. Because of his relationship with his father. Because he'll take on a Vorlon when he believes he's right. Because he makes the decision to secede, knowing the cost. Because he destroys the Black Star. Because he puts his hand on the book and says "I do". Because he listens when he's warned of danger, and does something about it even when it's difficult and risky. Because he goes to Z'ha'dum.

Captain Elizabeth Lochley

Lochley is my captain, because she's tough and no-nonsense without being hard. Because she was on the wrong side in the war, and she doesn't agree with Sheridan, but she never stops respecting him. Because she can listen to Bester without the preconceptions of the longer-term crew. Because she married Sheridan and divorced him and went right on being awesome. Because she had a horrendous childhood and was able to escape it. Because she wants to help Garibaldi even though they don't like each other. Because of her relationship with Gideon. Because she's ambitious and competent and professional without being "unfeminine". Because she listens to people even if she doesn't agree with them. Because she's proof that the enemy can be good people too.
