Guess what came home with me from the feed store?
Okay, in my own defense, I had always thought we'd have some ducks, but I hadn't thought we would get some this WEEK. Still, there the cute little things were in a big bin at the feed store in Battleground--how could I leave something that cute in that store? I got a female Blue Swede, a female Golden 300 (hybrid) and a male Khaki. The kids instantly claimed them, and started begging me NOT to eat them. HA! If those kids knew what a soft touch I really am, they wouldn't worry so much. I have explained to them that eventually we'll eat some of our animals, but putting it into practice when I've raised them from babies is definitely going to be tough.
