I've started getting very excited about my book recently. A few people have been asking me questions about my characters, etc.and I've been thinking about it more and more. I really want to start on it seriously, but I realized I really need to figure out who my main target audience is before I can really start. I never thought of this idea about having to have a target audience. I've always just written for myself and other fic writers that I know would read it, because it's what I would read, but this is another thing entirely. This is something for fantasy readers. Not for a certain group of shippers or fans of just one book, so I have a general idea about how they feel on certain issues, but people who are coming from all different places. Do I want to bring up the 'issue' of homosexuality in my book? Do I want this for a mature audience and maybe not flat out smut in the book, but strong content? Do I want my main character, who is a very strong female character to be celibate or very sexually active or a kind of happy medium? I really want to make her brother gay, but is that going to be too controversial? Who do I want to read this? I know that no matter what I write I won't make everyone happy, or get everyone to read it. But I also don't want to push too many people out. I don't want to write a romance novel, but a little romance keeps a story going. I just don't know.

ps. laptop keyboard or mouse or whatever has been freaking out this entire post. I think I fixed all errors... but who knows.
