"I don't even know where to start... I had a feeling after reading the previous chapter that Gabe was going to ask the Kents to take care of Chloe for him... but I did NOT think the Kents would go for it. I would even have bet Martha would be dead set against it; fearing to put both Clark and Chloe in harm's way if they were in such close proximity to each other day after day! She's going to become a nervous wreck worrying about them."
Hee! Her mind must be whirling. On the one hand, I'm sure she was happy to see her son walk through the door after telling them he was definitely prison-bound this time. On the other hand, he walked in with the girl he attacked and her father close behind - and she was barely getting over the shock of that when she suddenly realised she's become surrogate mother to the girl who just tried to drown her son!!! :-O
Yeesh, that's twisted, even for me... :-S
"(..btw, sorry I didn't leave a comment after the last chapter... yet, anyway... but I was truly in shock after that little cliffie, and almost literally holding my breath waiting for this continuation!!!)"
Oh, no worries, babes. You certainly made up for it with this comment! :-D *huggles*
"But then again, it just occurs to me, has Clark even had a chance to tell his parents he's NOT going to jail? Do they still think he'll be locked up and they can help Chloe somehow to get 'well?'"
They don't have a freakin' clue what's going on. There's a lot of words to be spoken by Chloe, Clark and his parents in the next few days, that much is sure.
"I felt awful for Chloe throughout this, once again, having to put her own troubles and fears on a back-burner, this time for her father's happiness; when she has every right (and, I'm sure a desperate need) to lean on him, to tell him the nightmare her life has become and to have him take care of her. Now she has to put off (for how long? how long is it to the end of the school term?) telling her Dad what Clark had done to her... Well, actually, it might make it impossible to ever tell him. How could he possibly live with the knowledge that he'd unknowingly put his daughter under the same roof as her rapist..."
He couldn't. No father could. And that's why Chloe's never, ever going to tell him. I just don't see any good coming of it, especially not now that she's finally fought her way free of the darkness...with Clark's help, I might add.
"OMG!!! Dee, you sure know how to get my mind going in all sorts of crazy directions worrying about these characters that you've brought to such vibrant life!!!"
*squee* I'm glad you like it so, Mari!!! :-D
"Once again, you've brought me to the selfish dark side of begging for more...."
Well, the next chapter is written; if I can edit it, it may go up as early as tomorrow. So fingers crossed! :-)
Excellent updates!!! And I repeat my heartfelt thank you for continuing this difficult tale... ;)"
Always a pleasure, Mari! Wish I could update faster, though. Contrary to popular opinion, I really don't enjoy leaving you all in suspense! :-P
