Anyway, here we are.  There’s a lot of Chloe introspection in this chapter, but as this was the pivotal moment leading up towards her making that decision, I felt I needed to explore exactly what

I love the behind the scenes exposition on her thought process on who she could trust. For the record, I think she underestimated Bart though. Also, she could have called her uncle. He'd helped protect her before. And considering the things she unearthed as a teen, he'd be willing to take her at her word and put military resources on it.

It also gives more weight to her interactions to Clark, her nightmares are too close to becoming a reality, she had to keep him off track and far away from Davis.

Good point, Kim. I guess the main problex with Bart is that there really isn't much he could to do actually help solve the problem skillswise. As to why she didn't call her uncle...whe knows? Truth be told, I forgot all about Uncle Sam when I was going through the line-up; I can only assume Chloe did the same, or didn't want to risk harming her family. :)

Yes, the nightmares only served to strengthen her resolve to keep Davis as far away from Clark as possible. It was a noble, selfless plan, but frought with errors and - sadly - doomed to end badly. :(

*hangs head in shame* I am so, so sorry for the delay. I got sidetracked by other works that were time-sensitive, and it threw me off my update schedule.
The good news is that Chapters 9 and 10 are pretty much written, so with some quick edits they'll be able to go up in a couple of weeks.
