If I sat next to you would you run away? A/N: This was written when I first started to write a couple of years back. I didn't change much coz I was too lazy to rearrange the sentences so it might suck big time and it's unbeta'ed so please bear with me guys.
A/N 2: Okay, normally I would post this every Friday but I decided to post this last installment today coz I'm starting my new job tomorrow so I might not have time and I want to thank you guys for reading this even if it's lame so just so you know I love you all for that like seriously <3
Previously He couldn’t take it seeing Kyuhyun turned his back on him, stomping briskly away without a backward glance like he doesn’t care anymore. He really couldn’t bear it. He wanted to stay as friends regardless of how he felt.
“Can we talk tomorrow hyung?” Kibum cut Jongwoon in midsentence. “I’m kinda tired now.” He said calmly but moved urgently and grabbed Kyuhyun’s elbow before he could go any further. Stopping in his track, the taller boy spun around to face him. “Good night hyung.” he flipped his phone shut. “What are you mad about now?”
“I don’t know!” Kyuhyun snapped. “Why are you mad at me?”
“I’m not mad at you.” Kibum answered softly.
“Yeah? From the way you acted you’re pretty mad at me. You’ve never ignored me Kibum, even during those rare times you got angry with me.” Kyuhyun shot back exasperatedly.
Kibum let go of his arm. He couldn’t possibly tell him that he was giving up on Kyuhyun and needed time away from him could he. The boy before him would find him appalling.
“Are you just going to keep quiet?” Kyuhyun glared still.
“I was sulking okay.” Kibum replied carefully and looked away.
Kibum’s voice was almost inaudible that Kyuhyun thought that he had heard him wrong. His frown melted into that of a surprise. He never thought that Kibum was capable of sulking. “Why?”
“Well you only called because you wanted me to hang out with you and Eun ji shii.” Kibum reasoned.
“Is that wrong?”
Kibum stopped boring a hole onto the ground and raised his eyes. “Nothing wrong… I just don’t find it fun to hang out with two lovebirds. I mean, would you seriously hang out with me if there’s a girl clinging on my arm all the time?”
Kyuhyun took a moment to consider what he said and wrinkled his nose. “I guess not.” Eun Ji did cling onto him all the time and demanded they meet everyday. “I’m sorry. I never thought of that.” He raked his fingers through his hair.
“Well that’s a given.” Kibum murmured.
“Yah!” Kyuhyun protested and punched Kibum’s shoulder lightly but he was glad. “So we good?” He asked somewhat sheepishly.
Kibum nodded smiling lazily. “Nite Kyu.” And begin to step away.
“Wait.” Kyuhyun reached out. “Wanna hang out tomorrow?”
“I can’t. I told you I’m meeting up with Jongwoon hyung.”
Kyuhyun dropped his arm and huffed, clearly annoyed. “Fine, some other time then.” He slung his arm and walked Kibum back to his house. “So where you guys going?”
“Theme park.” Kibum ignored the amused chuckle.
“Two guys going to a theme park?”
Kibum just shrugged carelessly and fished out his keys to unlock the small gate.
“What time are you guys heading out?”
“After lunch. Nite Kyu.” Kibum stuck out his tongue and pushed his friend away. He stepped through and locked up leaving the other still on the other side of the tall bars. “Umm… you can go now.” He spoke to the boy who stood there with a lopped sided smile.
“You look really cute.” Kyuhyun shoved his hands in his pockets and sauntered away.
Kibum stared at the empty space ruffling his hair consciously. “Whatever.” He whispered smiling a bit.

The air smelled sweet of pop corns and cotton candies, children running around squealing excitedly pointing out to the rides they wanted to have a go at, students such as himself out on group or individual dates taking photos or sitting on benches eating hotdogs and sipping cokes, laughing merrily or simply basking in the atmosphere. Jongwoon and Kibum were at the end of a queue for the roller coaster ride when someone jumped onto Jongwoon’s back wrapping spindly arms around his neck nearly chocking him.
“OPPA!!!” Eun Ji squealed in his ear.
“Aarghh! Get off me! Eun Ji what are you doing here?” He extricated his sister’s arms and massaged his throat coughing slightly.
“To play, DUHH.” Eun Ji mocked him and looped their arms together taking Kibum’s place.
He turned around slightly to see Kibum with Kyuhyun hugging him from behind. The taller of the two smiled innocently drawing his arms closer around Kibum and hooked his sharp chin on his shoulder.
“It’s been so long since we had fun together oppa.” Eun Ji smiled up at him.
Jongwoon shifted his cold eyes to his sister and smiled warmly masking the unpleasant surprise he actually felt. Eun Ji leaned her head on his shoulder and started chattering with the three of them while the line moved slowly. He slipped back into his normal self but kept an eye on Kyuhyun.
Their turn finally came and he was glad his sister dragged Kyuhyun away from Kibum to take first dip on the head of the roller coaster. He chose a few seats behind them and smirked at the boy casting daggers at him before he was pulled into his seat.
“Enjoy your ride!” A petite girl quipped cheerfully after checking their safety contraptions.
Jongwoon smiled at her and turned to Kibum who was doing the same thing. He took his hand and laced their fingers together earning a squeeze from the younger boy. With luck he could lose those two and the curl of his lips stretched wider as the machine jerked forward.
Kibum found it amusing to watch Kyuhyun insisted they should all stick together after the coaster ride. Knowing his friend, he knew that the couple being there at the theme park was no coincidence. It was all Kyuhyun’s doing. He knew that the roller coaster is always the first to ride in Kibum’s list.
He had smiled apologetically to the older boy who just shrugged it off disdainfully and stick close to him. Kyuhyun had however something else in his mind, stealing him away from Jongwoon’s side from time to time, running off with him to different part of the park leaving the two siblings to catch up with them in order to ride some of the attractions together with him. In the end Jongwoon had taken hold of his hand and clasp to it tightly
The orange tint of the sky faded to pink and seeped slowly to purple as dusk fell with a smattering of stars dusting its expanse, blinking softly before disappearing, muted by the city lights. Jongwoon thanked the vender as he handed Kibum a fluffy pink cotton candy and began eating his. From a distance they heard Eun Ji’s squeal and saw her running towards them with a giant teddy in her arms Kyuhyun had won for her and was proudly showing it off, swinging it around happily and knocking off Kibum’s cone of sweet from his hand in the process.
“Yah! Eun Ji, look at what you’ve done?” Jongwoon tsked
“It’s okay.” Kibum chuckled “I hope you’re prize hasn’t gotten sticky though.” Eun Ji stuck out her tongue at Jongwoon.
“I can get you another one.” Kyuhyun piped in.
“It’s okay, I can get it for him.” Jongwoon cut in coolly and slid an arm on Kibum’s waist possessively.
Kibum’s eyes flicked from the older guy to his best friend and finally said. “Eun Ji lets get cotton candies for both of us.” He held out his hand to the girl cooing to her teddy and left them both sizing each other up.
“You can’t monopolize him all the time you know.”
Kyuhyun started once Kibum and his sister were out of hearing distance. Jongwoon let out a derisive chuckle. “I can’t, can’t I?” He drawled out mockingly. “Well I like him a lot so don’t count on it.”
Kyuhyun drew up to his full height and took a step forward. “What do you mean?”
“Whatever that I’ve just said.” He replied, losing the fake smile and looked the younger one straight into his eyes.
He sneered in satisfaction when the boy’s frown burrowed deeper, only breaking eye contact when the other two came back from the snack stand. Jongwoon eyed the younger male sidle up to Kibum, catching hold of his wrist to bite off the fluffy sweet directly from where Kibum had nibbled it. Ignoring the slight flush to Kibum’s fair skin, he gently pulled him away from Kyuhyun.
They strolled around the premises of the park, wondering if they’ve missed out on any rides while finishing the last bit of their candies. Weaving their way through the crowd, their feet led them to a gigantic structure of colorful lights blinking in a set of pattern revolving slowly over a distance.
“Guys! We haven’t done the ferris wheel yet, come on!” Eun Ji called out excitedly to Jongwoon and Kibum.
Kibum licked his cone clean and caught Kyuhyun watching from where he stood waiting with Eun Ji for them. He ducked his head, couldn’t help but feel slightly abashed under the smoldering gaze even though he noticed how moody the other one had become. He dumped his cone and let Jongwoon tugged him closer. Kyuhyun’s mouth set in a grim line as he regarded the two of them before spinning around and stalked away with Eun Ji trailing behind him.
He prayed that they didn’t have to wait so long for their turn and thanked the stars when the operators started to move them in bit by bit. He was getting increasingly uncomfortable as Kyuhyun’s sullen mood hung heavily in the air and it wasn’t just affecting him but Eun Ji as well. The girls incessant chattering and laughter earlier were now silenced as she stared quietly into empty space.
“You coming in?” Kyuhyun asked ignoring the incredulous look Eun Ji shot him.
“No thanks, we’ll take the next carriage.” Jongwoon smiled widely. Kyuhyun looked like he’s going to bite his head off but didn’t respond while the operator locked in the gate firmly.
Jongwoon steered him away and they got into the next carriage. It was large enough for four but he thought that it’s better to let the couple ride it alone, after all, ferris wheel rides are meant to be a romantic kind of thing.
Their car stopped frequently to let others into the ride but it didn’t seem to take long for them to come a full circle and the actual ride finally started, ascending at a much faster pace leaving everything down below. His lips curled in content, lulled by the comfortable silence and the sweet scented breeze caressing their skin. They’ve climbed up quite high and was about to reach the point closest to the sky, he could see the whole park lit up with bright lights and he marveled quietly.
“Beautiful.” He glanced to Jongwoon beside him “Isn’t it?”
“Yeah.”
Kibum’s breath caught in his throat as a pair of lips brushed softly on his own, too stun to even blink when Jongwoon backed away slowly gauging for his reaction.
“Why?” He whispered.
“You do realize that I like you a lot right?”
A thumb skimmed lightly over his lips as the pair of dark eyes searched his. He already knew of this or at least he had guessed the feelings the older boy held for him but should he do this? Just surrender to Jongwoon and maybe finally be happy? Is he even ready for this?
“Give me sometime hyung.” His hand closed around Jongwoon’s wrist and brought it down.
Jongwoon sighed but smiled nevertheless.
“Sure, anything you want.” The boy replied, entwining their hands together.
When they got off the carriage, Kyuhyun and Eun Ji was already waiting for them by the stairs of the high platform.
“Kibum, can you please tell Kyu to hold this teddy for me? I’ve been begging him but he just refused.” She pouted.
“Hey, my wrist is still sore from throwing all those balls just so you can have it you know. I’m not going to carry it.” Kyuhyun deadpanned.
Kibum’s lips curved gently at the pouting girl. “Sorry, I can’t help you there.”
Truth is he doesn’t want to aggravate Kyuhyun more.
“I need the restroom, anyone with me?” Kyuhyun asked both Jongwoon and him.
“You guys go ahead and wait for us by the entrance.” Jongwoon spoke to him and went of with Kyuhyun.
He offered to carry Eun Ji’s giant teddy and walked alongside each other quietly till they reach the gate and stood at a side outside the entrance.
“Today was fun wasn’t it?” Kibum tried to make small talk with the girl.
“It would have been so much more fun if Kyu hadn’t suddenly turned moody.” She sighed gloomily. “You wouldn’t know what’s up with him would you?”
Kibum shrugged in response. He doesn’t know either. “Come, lets cross the road, they’re already here.”
They were already halfway across the two way street when a car zoomed passed. The head of the giant teddy he was carrying by his side got snagged by the car’s door and it was wrenched away from him, almost pulling him along by the sheer force of it as Eun Ji screamed and clutched at him.
“Kibum! Are you okay?!” Kyuhyun spun him around to face him, his eyes wide with alarm and his pallor deathly pale from shock
“T-That scared me.” He stammered clutching onto Kyuhyun tightly with his heart lodged in his throat. He was almost killed, if he hadn’t let go of the stuff toy he probably would have died.
“It’s okay I’m here now.” Kyuhyun whispered, his voice shaking as he pulled him into his arms and led him away.
Eun Ji stood there dazed staring after the two boys and slowly put one foot forward after another. Her torn prize lay forgotten.

Kyuhyun moped around the house for the next few days. Eun Ji had ditched him for her girlfriends again and Kibum had just left to meet Jongwoon after doing their assignments which was what they have been doing these few days.
The only time they hang out together was to do their neglected schoolwork. Go figure.
Why must he be out with Jongwoon all the time? He grunted. And Eun Ji… girl’s odd these past few days.
“Fine, leave me all by myself.” He grumbled fiddling with his cellphone while he rummaged his wardrobe for a fresh pair of denims and a t-shirt.

They blinked in the fading light after being cooped up in the dark game center for five straight hours. He could have kept on playing if the rest of his classmates weren’t dying of starvation all around him. Boys being boys, they weren’t fussy about where they were going to fill their stomachs and they filled in noisily into the first burger joint they set their eyes on.
“You guys go find a place for us to sit.” Joo myuk faced Kyuhyun and Dong Sun. “And take Chin Mae with you.” He pushed a Lee Junki look alike flirting madly with a girl in a queue beside theirs.
“Yah!” Chin Mae protested at his two chortling friends dragging him away from his fun to find tables that will sit six of them.
“Ya Kyu. Isn’t that Eun Ji?” Dong Sun gestured with his head towards a table by the window.
Kyuhyun’s eyes fell onto Eun Ji holding hands with a boy across her laughing at whatever the boy had just said. “You guys go get the seats.” He said absently snatching his arm away from a grasping hand and approached the table startling the girl as he sidled up to them. “Hey Eun Ji. Care to introduce me your girlfriend.”
The boy slammed his table with his palm and stood up. “Ya! You got a problem?!”
He grabbed the shorter boy by the collar.
“Stop it Kyu!” Eun Ji’s manicured nails dug into his arm. “Let him go!”
He shoved the boy roughly into his seat and whirled around swatting Eun Ji’s grasp off him.
“What the hell are you doing?!”
“Lets talk outside.” She said coldly and slinked away.
He stormed after her ignoring the curious onlookers and exited through the heavy glass doors to where Eun Ji waited.
“We should stop seeing each other.” She said just as soon as he reached her.
“Why?!” He demanded.
“Because I’m not the one you want.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You don’t care about me. All you care about is Kibum!” She exclaimed, her hands splayed on her hips.
“He’s my best friend! Of course I care about him.” He paused. “Is this about the other day? I said I was sorry Eun Ji.”
“No this is not just about that! This is about how it has always been. How your whole face lights up whenever you hear his voice, how your face gentled whenever you looked at him, you can never keep your hands off him that’s for sure and even after we start dating it has always been Kibum this or Kibum that, Kibum did this Kibum did that. You’re in love with him and you don’t even know it!” She breathed in deeply after finishing her tirade in one breath.
“That is ridiculous!” A stinging slap landed on his cheek.
“Snap out of it Kyu! Stop being so stupid and open your eyes.” She spat in disgust and left him alone.
Joo Myuk came out giving the furious girl a wide berth and tapped him lightly on his shoulder. “You okay man?”
Kyuhyun backed away without properly meeting Joo Myuk’s eyes. “I - I’m just gonna go.” He muttered and bumped past his classmate his mind swirling as he replayed Eun Ji’s words over and over again.

The incessant beeping of Kibum’s text messages is really bugging Jongwoon. He wished he could snatch the damn thing away and chuck it somewhere even though Kibum merely looked at it without replying. He’s been trying to get Kibum’s attention for the last half hour with no success, the other was obviously thinking of someone else and he didn’t like it one bit.
He thought that everything was going smoothly between them, he was even willing to take it slow so that Kibum will get used to being with him. But seeing him now, he doubt that things will go his way. Not when a little bit of message can deter the boy’s whole demeanor. Not when his heart belongs to someone else he realized.
The phone jingled again and he eyed the boy reading the text, this time rising from his chair.
“It’s Kyuhyun isn’t it?” He said before the boy could utter a word.
“I’m sorry hyung. I have to go.” Kibum apologized and started to leave.
Jongwoon left his chair and held onto Kibum’s arm. “If I ask you not to leave would you stay?”
Kibum wetted his lower lips and said in a small voice. “ I’m sorry hyung, I can’t do this.”
Jongwoon’s arm dropped limply to his side. He should have known. No, he already knew as he cast his sight away from Kibum.
“Hyung.”
“It’s okay. Just go.”
“I’m really sorry.” Kibum whispered as he brushed past him.

Kibum ran under the streetlamps illuminating the pavement, his feet pounding on the ground as he make his way to a deserted playground and he finally slowed down when he spotted a lone figure on a swing. Treading on the grass noiselessly, he wondered what he should say now that he’s here. He was never good at consoling people. All he was ever good at was listening.
“Kyu.” He laid a hand on a drooping shoulder. “I’m sorry.”
Kyuhyun shook his head and got up slowly pulling him in an embrace and nuzzled into his neck. He patted the back of his head gently at the tightening of his arms around his waist. “It’s okay if you want to cry.”
“Ever notice how we fit perfectly together?” Kyuhyun whispered stilling Kibum’s hand.
“You must be so upset.” Kibum chuckled dryly and pulled away. “Wanna talk about it?”
Kyuhyun let him go, his eyes unfathomable. “I fell in love with someone else.”
“Are you serious?” he asked, careful not to let his voice waver as he sat on a swing. It doesn’t seem long ago his friend was raving about Eun Ji and now he’s saying he’s in love with someone else. Someone else other than him, he swallowed the lump in his throat and shook himself mentally. This is not about him, it’s about Kyu. “How did she take it? Wait, you said she dumped you. Shouldn’t you be the one doing the dumping if you’re in love with someone else?”
“Yeah, she did. She was with another guy when I saw her.”
“So she cheated on you coz you cheated on her?”
“I didn’t cheat on her.” Kyuhyun sighed and pushed Kibum on the swing lightly.
“I’m confused.” He laughed tiredly.
“Me too.” Kyuhyun chuckled. “I didn’t even know I was in love with this person till today.”
“Is this the women’s instinct kind of thing?” Kibum wrinkled his nose and ask the inevitable question. “Well, whatever. So do I know this girl?”
Kyuhyun held the chains on either side of Kibum and slowly brought the swing to a stop. His friend was taking his time answering as he stepped around and hauled him up. A new lump formed in his throat, confused and possibly wrong in reading those emotions behind those eyes which was looking at him the same way he had always done and he felt those lips brushing softly just by the corner of his lips.
“It’s not a girl.”
It couldn’t be, but he just kissed him. His long time friend just kissed him. The hold on his wrist loosened, uncertainty flickered across the other’s chiseled features.
“Do you hate me?”
His ability of speech deserted him and he shook his head slowly as if he was testing to see if his other motor skills have abandoned him as well. His lungs didn’t seem to be functioning properly and his pulse had gone erratic when Kyuhyun stepped closer and cupped his chin between his fingers, advancing closer still till their lips were hovering only inches a part.
“Do you like me?” The other whispered
He barely nodded as Kyuhyun caught his lips, kissing him slowly and he kisses him back just as slowly, savoring the sweetness of delicate longing he was finally able to taste.
Kyuhyun drew away with a soft curve to his mouth and kissed his forehead. “Lets go.”
They strolled quietly towards home with their fingers laced together, both deep in their own thoughts, at peace and contented.
“You know what?” Kyuhyun released Kibum’s hand and pulled him close slinging an arm over the other’s neck, still marveling at how natural it felt to be with him. “Lets go on a date tomorrow.”
