lock up the guns and bring on the happy pills

So this is what it feels like when you see your dreams go down the toilet.

I've been waiting to hear back from one of two midwives in Alberta.  I got an answer from one of them this morning.

" Thanks for the informative resume that you sent us in looking for a student placement with our [practice] in [Alberta].  We reviewed it carefully but unfortunately we decided as a group that we could not accept you as a student in our practice with your current level of training and experience.  We wish you luck!  [Alberta Midwife] "

Um.  What?  I'm not sure what level of training and experience they are looking for in a student, but I obviously don't have enough.  I wasn't applying as a RM, I was applying as a student!  So I don't have enough training and experience to get into PLEA or enough to work as a student in a midwifery practice.  Five years of studying, leaving my family to get clinical experience, sacrificing so much for NOTHING.

What a waste of time, money, and energy.

So how motivated do you think I am to finish my program now?  Ha.
