I got a phone call this morning to tell me that the former pastor of our church (and good friends of our family) had lost everything in a house fire on Saturday, just days after his birthday and one day after his wife's birthday. As far as I know, no one was hurt or killed but it's so upsetting to think that they lost everything :-(
Charlotte was especially playful this morning, lots of giggling and laughing while she chased me around the house, got tickled, and played finger puppets. I just love having her around, even though I get nothing done. When I put her in her bed with toys so that I could have a shower, she got into some real mischief. She threw all of her toys out on to the floor, as usual, but then she pulled her change pad down into her bed, turned it over and tore most of the foam off the back! I don't think she ate any, but it was a real mess.
A friend of mine is going to loan me her crib so that we can put Charlotte in it. She's just getting too big for her little playpen and I am *not* ready for her to be in a twin bed yet. In the Spring we're going to get bunk beds for her and Julia and then we'll move her into a real bed but for now, the crib will be nice for her to stretch out in. I want to find some fleece crib sheets, or I'll just get some twin sheets and wrap it around the whole mattress - then we can use those sheets on her big bed later on.
She's down for a nap now and I haven't accomplished much. I made a doctor's appointment to discuss my never-ending chest cold as well as my CAT scan results. Apparently they got the results but there was no note to call me, just to follow up the next time I had an appointment so I guess nothing terrible showed up. Good news :-)
I had a good sleep last night, but it wasn't long enough - about 6.5 hours. That's more than I've been getting lately and at least it was uninterrupted so I feel pretty good today. When I got up with the girls, Charlotte and I sat in the chair for more than half an hour under a warm blanket while she nursed. She's not usually content to nurse that long in the mornings so it was nice to have her lay still and just nurse for a while.
It's almost time to make lunch for the girls, then I have to do some studying and errands. I would much rather have a nap.
