Frosty, frosty morning today.  I'll have to bundle up to be pumping gas today.

Yesterday I accidentally cut the end of my thumb so I've got it all bandaged up and can't use it much.  Then last night I got a really deep crack in my other thumb, something that happens all winter long due to the dry, cold weather.  Pumping gas, breaking down cardboard boxes, and stocking cups and drinks has been hard on my hands, and I didn't realize how much I really used my thumbs....until they were both sore and tender.

Charlotte is spinning in circles with her hands in the air, clapping her hands, and 'dancing' to the music on the radio while Julia eats Alpha-bits cereal for breakfast, a Saturday-only treat.  Apparently, Charlotte didn't appreciate them as much as Julia does since there are dry Alpha-bits all over the kitchen floor and high chair ;-)  As complicated as they make my life sometimes, they're such a joy.

It's Thanksgiving here on Monday but I'm not doing anything about it.  I have no time, money, energy, or motivation to make a big turkey dinner and Kim and Jack have both told me they don't care if we do it or not.  "It's just an excuse to overeat."  Good, no pressure on me to spend a day in the kitchen and then a bloated evening on the couch.  I can be just as thankful for pancakes.

The new owners took possession of my Grandpa's house yesterday and I had to go and leave all my keys in the house.  For a decade I've had his leather key chain with his house key and mail key and as silly as it sounds, it was hard to take that key off and leave it behind.  In a few weeks, I'll have to turn in his mail key too.  I walked through the empty house twice yesterday afternoon, remembering all the times our family has gathered in that tiny house.  Grandpa had gone to see the  doctor because he wasn't feeling well and one week later he was gone.  My brain is still trying to catch up.  As I walked out of his house for the last time ever, I paused in the entry way, wishing I could hear him say "Thanks for stopping by!" one more time.
