I've had two weeks off work and it's been nice to not have to listen for my phone and just have not to be 'on' all.the.time. I've stayed up very late at night, left my phone turned off in my purse while at the movie theater, and thoroughly enjoyed going to bed knowing that I'll be able to sleep all night, undisturbed.
Also:
* had my hair cut and colored
* hit Costco
* made dentist appointments for the girls
* filled prescriptions
* had the oil changed in my car
* took the girls mini-golfing with my mom
* went to see "Maleficent" with my mom and Julia
* put together the vacation calendar for our midwifery practice
* had a dinner and long walk along the river date-night with Jack
* went to see "Tammy" with my mom
* had Charlotte's birthday party and went out for dinner as a family
* had family over for a bbq, bonfire, s'mores, and sparklers on Canada Day
* dealt with some practical and legal stuff with my dad's estate
* had a short but sweet visit with Kim when she came to town
* savored every minute of my mom's 2 weeks visit
* recertified my CPR for work
* took the dog to get groomed
* bought the book and borrowed the DVD's for a Beth Moore bible study that I've been really enjoying
* registered for the national midwifery conference being held here this Fall
* went for ice cream with my mom and the girls
* booked the girls for a week of camp
* arranged a playdate for Charlotte
* went through the towers of paperwork in my home office
* finished my June mileage form for work
* returned some clothes I'd bought for Julia that didn't fit her
* dropped off stuff at the charity drop-off depot
* returned a bag of pop cans and bottles
* picked out and ordered a headstone for my dad's grave
* had my BIL and SIL over for breakfast while they were in town overnight for a social event
* attended a home birth for one of 'my' clients as my midwifery partner had someone else in labour at the same time
* and all the usual grocery shopping, laundry, bill paying, etc.
Now it's time to get back into gear for work so today, restock my birth bags, make sure the laundry is caught up, food is in the fridge, and gas up the car. I'm actually looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow; since I went on vacation our new admin assistant AND our new midwife have started work!
vacation,
back to work,
being the mom,
summer fun,
no rest for the wicked,
my mom
