I wanted summer to end but now I want it back. Where did the time go? You can feel it when you wake up in the early morning hours and your cold enough where you have to have a blanket on. You can sort of smell it when the sun is starting to go down-its autumn. Its almost september can you believe it? Its weird because when I think of fall not only do I think about pumpkins, the leaves, Vermont, sweaters, scarves, frost, and crisp air but of school and when I think of school I think of Natick. There is no more first day jitters and walking in (why does it always rain on the first day?) and gaining your sense of balance with the familiar smells and faces. I wanted summer to go by fast, I wanted to high tail it out of here and never look back. The truth is now that its happening I want to go back and change what I said. I want to be able to look back, but I know the truth of the matter is when I look back its never going to be the same again. My friends will have acquired new friends and maybe they will have changed completely. Yes there will be some familiar habits that won't ever change but then there will most certainly be new things to adapt to. Its kind of like a memory foam you know? You leave an imprint for a while and you mold to it but then as soon as you get up and leave, it changes. Whats to stop certain people from never coming back? There are those people who can just leave and create a new home just like that. No regrets. However, as much as this town can suck its still home. The saying goes, home is where the heart is and I think that statement does have some truth behind it. While Natick may never be my true home ever again its where my heart is, or at least part of it. I might not like to admit it but its here. Its in the football games, the smell of the school hallways, elm bank, and downtown. They say you can't go home again but I do think you can certainly go where your heart is and for me a part of it will always be here(even if I dont always like to admit it).

"Now I've found that what's most valuable about that place is not the place itself but the other people; that through other people you can find a recognition of each other. I think that's where the real home is."

"Where we love is home - home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts."
