So today was thanksgiving. Started for me yesterday when my boss let me off work at 2:30 instead of 5pm. Always nice. Took me a half hour to get from my office on Wilshire and 4th to the 405 freeway. Sucked. I knew the 405 would be bad...but I had no idea I would move no faster than 10mph on any given part of the 405 or the 5 all the way to the base of the Grapevine. Once I hit the Grapevine, it wasn't too bad...except those stupid people who would slam their breaks on for no reason in the middle of the freeway. Stupid. It took me about 7.5 hours to get home...longest ride home ever. Got home and set my stuff in my room, chatted with my parents for a bit, talked to Mike for a bit, then hit the sack. With the stuff at work, and my computer not working and the long drive, I was beat.
This morning I woke up at 9am to conference video chat with my brother in Lyon...well, Holland or wherever he was. He got me a beer stein in Germany. It's hand painted with an iron lid. It's pretty cool. I doubt I'll use it, but it will be cool to display somewhere in my bedroom. My mom made belgian waffles for breakfast with cherry topping which was pretty good. After breakfast my dad showed me some pictures from their trip to Lyon and through Switzerland. Looked like they had fun. Not long after that it was time to go to thanksgiving.
It was at one of my mom's friend's house. There were just six of us, but it was nice to get together with someone. We watched part of the thanksgiving parade and then ate lunner (lunch/dinner) at 3pm. Talk at the table consisted of googling the english word for a wisdom phrase (in this case it happened to be 'A bird in one hand is as good as two in the bush.'). We found out it was called an idiom. Colloquialism and some other words were googled also. We finally in the end determined "idiom" was the correct word. Then we talked about how the worlds ugliest dog died last week. No one believed how ugly the dog was so my dad found a pic of it on google and showed it to everyone. Needless to say, everyone had the same reaction...utter disgust. lol. Here's a picture for reference:
World's Ugliest Dog.
I was gonna post the actual picture, but its too ugly to do that. It might deter people from reading this. Let me just say the ugly dog was compared to the turkey carcass...thats how ugly it was.
After thanksgiving dinner was some detox time to sorta chill out and let the food digest. I watched 3 episodes of Family Guy with my dad, laughed at some funny jokes, which Family Guy is extremely good for. Chatted with Mikey and Yee and Hockey Mama for a bit. Now i'm sitting here writing in this and attempting to warm my feet infront of the heater. Im freezing here. My room felt so cold last night. Heat is my friend. I miss my cats. Ive only been away from them for 24 hours, but Im sad theyre not here to cuddle with or sit on my bed and let me pet them. Rocky always looks so cute when he sleeps. And he loves having his stomach rubbed. Fiona always wants me to play fetch with her and that chewed up mouse. Ariel called me today all worried cuz he couldnt find Fiona. She always hides. They're prolly lonely and think I ditched them. Especially Fiona cuz I got mad at her yesterday morning before i left for work. Aww, i miss my babies....
Tomorrow were gonna go cut down our christmas tree. I hope it doesnt rain. I didn't bring anything to survive the rain in. No rain coats or umbrellas...oh wait, i forgot i have those with me. But still. I have my mittens and my boots and my peacoat....but thats the extent of it. Hopefully it'll go fast this year and be under an hour. No more five hours to find the PERFECT tree. lol. We also get to have dinner with my pregnant cousin, her husband and my aunt and uncle. It should be fun. I always like to see them.
Saturday I might either go shopping with my mom (she's convinced I need more clothes for North Carolina) or go see Jarhead with my dad. Maybe I'll have time to do both. I might want to get a little "homework" in as well. I brought all my supplies, so we'll see if I get time to work on it.
Im not really looking forward to the drive home, but we'll not focus on that much since its a ways off. I'm just gonna enjoy my time off work until my next vacation...which I CANT WAIT for :-D

The cows didn't smell this time...what a relief!
