so i'll be living in london for the next 5 or 6 months.
i'm working at a hostel here, as a receptionist. i get free accomadation and £20 per shift.
which means i need to get an additional job because that's not much money to live on.
this place is fantastic though. there are so many interesting people from all over the world coming and going. the kids who work here are great. so is the atmosphere. the walls are covered in detailed spray paint artwork. the main room where the reception desk is is also the common room where people are always hanging out, watching movies, listening to music, smoking and drinking. at all hours. i get to smoke cigarettes while i'm working. i'm also allowed to drink. to a reasonable extent.
it's so odd that this is going to be my home for the next few months. it's surreal, and it definitely hasn't completely sunk in that i'm going to be living here. living in a room with 3 other people, and having a very very minimal amount of stuff. the only things i have are the things i packed when i left. and it was a ridiculously modest backpack, especially for me. i really need to get some warm clothing. i miss my comic book collection a lot, and have have honestly considered having my mom ship it to me. but i realize how absurd that is.
i need to get a bike.
also, after traveling around eastern europe, i must say how nice it is to finally be in a place where soymilk and other vegan foods are readily available.
i miss you guys. a lot. and i'm still trying to finish writing postcards. even though i bought them all the way back in venice.
